Wanted to share with everyone my updated list of Chair Routines. I basically took the list that (I think) Paolo Cavalli started and added to it. I also modified it to make it look prettier. I did leave out a very few sources for certain reasons either because they are impossible to find, or I couldn't verify they existed. I'm also working on a complete list of Touches sources, and will post that when it's complete. Enjoy!

Bev, I PM'd you.
I sure wouldn't say that lots are missing. I did remove a few from Paolo's original list as I stated above, if I coulnd't verify they existed. For example in Paolo's original list he included the "tecnicolor chair prediction" in Bascom's magick. After checking, this must have been a mistake because it doesn't seem to exist. That's just an example.

Are the two Berglas effects worthy of this list? Whilst both are described in Mind and Magic there is no explanation for either and it could be fair to say that Berglas in description of his effects can be guilty of a touch of hyperbole. I'd be interested to know if anyone has ever seen either of these effects performed to see if they do run exactly as described. If they do then this must be the ultimate chair routine and it is no surprise Berglas chose to keep the secret.

There is a "hint" given in the Berglas book about how he did it. I've never seen a clip of this though. I've heard that Berglas, in reality, had many chair type routines. I've seen videos of some of them.

Just to make the above list complete and for the sake of historical documentation (or something)....
Ensconced Fundament Asunder Maximus is the full title of the manuscript and contained six different chair tests listed below. Ensconced Fundament Ensconced Fundament Asunder Four Colored Chairs- Three People Quartet Open Quaretet Three for All I have a few others as well that are yet to be published in any official manuscript. Hope this helps the above list. |

Add to it, Leslie Melville's KISMET (2005), based on his chair routine, The Prize Winner. The book was reprinted in MAGICTALES through Leaping Lizards
He published variations of the Chair test without the chairs, packs flat and plays big. I've used it quite a bit. Tony |

Are you only posting written materials?
If not, Colin McLeod has a nice "Chair Test" on his Opening Minds DVD set.

Thank you for the list...i have never been a fan of 'chair routines'.
I have acess to proabably 4 or 5 of the above mentioned resources. I would like to know whether magi can project a reason for doing a chair routine. What does the magi want to achieve...control the persons mind in choosing the chair ? |
