I loved the Safwan Papers.....

Thank you very much! If you did, you should like Logar as well (I'll $-back guarantee it!)

Bryn

After re-reading what I just wrote, did I really just go there?

Yup, I guess I did....

OK, $-back guarantee on my eBooks. If not for you, and you get nothing out of it, let me know...

I picked up and really enjoyed Bryn's Safwan Papers back when it came out in 2008. Back then, I wasn't yet a full on mentalist, but I did mostly mental material. The Safwan Papers stood out to me because of it's emphasis on practical and straightforward material. I remember trying out nearly everything in that book.

When my son was born, I took a bit of a hiatus from the mystery arts, and I missed the Logar Scrolls when it came out.

Well I finally got around to it! Only 6 years late I guess...

So the Logar Scrolls is a bit of a 'best of' compilation. He's included some of his previously marketed 'greatest hits', along with some updated handlings and new material.

Well, simply put, there's lots of great, practical material in here.

'The Notebook' is a nifty index built into a small notebook. Very clever and a very nice switch to ring it in.

'Rifflethink' is the kind of thing that could easily be your go-to mental card effect. One card is selected and one is just thought of, and you divine both. It's easy and straightforward, yet totally baffling to laypeople. There are a few different options given, and I especially like Richard Osterlind's 'Ending #2'. Reminds me of something out of Annemann.

'Espvelopes' was the only thing I was familiar with. This is a simple way to gimmick coin envelopes to facilitate a p**k, st**l, or l**d. Unlike so many of these things, the participant can freely handle the envelope.

'Coinsuke' is a take on Maven's Kurotsoke using a simple gimmick. Definitely will get the job done - and no sleight of hand necessary.

Now comes one of the real stand outs for me, "$". This is listed as 'Yet another serial number divination', but it's actually really unique. Bryn has applied techniques that are not usually used with this type of effect and it's really a great idea. I'm excited to make this up and try it out.

'Double down' is a coincidence card effect using different casino cards. This one sounds cool but it may be a bit of a chore to put together the necessary items. The thinking behind it is solid however.

Another stand out for me is the 'Businesscoin prediction'. This is a gimmicked version of a Positive No Negative type of effect. This is a fun little principle that I'd never played around with but is surprisingly practical and deceptive. Bryn includes a number of different ideas and effects beyond the coin effect. He even has a mental epic setup using only an index card.

The book ends with an Osterlind contribution called 'An effect from my childhood'. I was familiar with this principle but in a slightly different form. It's definitely a powerful effect and it's simple to do.

All in all, just like The Safwan Papers, the Logar Scrolls is full of practical and straightforward mental effects.

Matt:

Thank you for the kind words!

Your detailed breakdown of the effects hopefully introduces this eBook to anyone that may not have heard of it, and is now looking for a Christmas present for THEMSELVES!

I was looking for the Business Coin Prediction, I wrote directly to Bryn to buy the Logar.
Three surprises:
1) the ebook was discounted at 10 dollars;
2) the time to answer and the kindness of Bryn were outstanding;
3) I have discovered the Double down effect that really impressed me for the simplicity and the impact on people. The principle behind this trick is really amazing. Osterlind used it for one of his DVD and I can understand why. If you are not familiar with the effect: ten casino cards, you will know which cards two different spectators thought and I underline thought... I'd like to add my two cents to this effect. If you use a full deck composed by cards from some casinos, and you take "some" cards from the top (estimation or s.... card) at the beginning of the effect you can add another layer of deception at the effect.
Just to share with all of you a positive experience!
Warmly
Max
