I was just wondering, how many % of playing cards sold worldwide do you think are actually used for magic purposes? How many % of playing cards are used for recreational purposes? How about gambling purposes and so on? Anyone got any statistics on this? How about making some guesses?
Would like to hear your estimates. |

Well...considering most casinos have their own brand of playing cards that cuts down quite a bit.
Let's pretend everyone (including casinos) have to use Bicycle. You have 100 decks. 60 of the decks will be used by the casino, 35 will be used by magicans, and the last 5 are for everyone else. That is my estimate! Chris |

Hmm I don't know, how many magicians are there in the world?
We are a MINORITY, and even if we buy tons that won't make up that much... I'm saying 90% by casino's, 5% Magicians, 5% everyone else. Just about everyone has a deck of cards in their house, and you do have to replace them every year or two =) |

I think most playing cards are bought by tourists.
People buy cards to play on a lazy day in their hotel room. People buy decks as souveniers (you know the kind, picture of Niagra Falls, etc.) to give as gifts and to collect. I had an aunt that collected cards (she played a mean game of baseball poker, too). She had decks in every nook and cranny of her house. I don't think anyone counted, but I would have guessed over 500 decks! |
