Hey guys, I'm really proud of this new image. Its the first professionally made promo thing I've paid for. What do you think?

I am glad you are proud of it. No offense but it looks a little mixed up to me. If you are using it for kids shows, I would advise you to replace the fire with something more kid's like. The wand with no fire will be better for kids. If it is for adult shows I would replace the balloon with a fan of playing cards.

Dynamike: I use fire at all my kids shows, so it fits for me, personally. My adult one is the avatar of just my head. I also do animal balloons at most of my kids events, so I think it works.

I like it, but the heart at the bottom looks a little phallic.

I would lose that really quick. 2. If you're going for simple then fine...but this just seems very boring to my eyes. Man in a grey suit with a fire wand and a balloon dog. Big deal... 3. You look very scary in this logo. Try and not look at this from a magician standpoint but from a "soccer mom" stand point. You don't want to do ANYTHING that will possibly deter the soccer mom (the one booking your for her child's event) from calling you. I think this logo would make someone not call you. Let me put it a different way. Look at your logo compared to mine: If someone had to choose an act based on the logo alone...who do you think would get the booking. I also do fire in my family shows...but I don't have it in my logo b/c I don't want to scare off potential clients. Food for thought...

Kameron - yea not liking the heart at the bottom see what else he can come up with.
as for the fire on the wand GO FOR IT. Kids love fire every one needs to remember or be aware of that you live in the land of reality the last frontier where people actually have common sense! Montana. I know this so I also know that showing fire is no big deal. heck I use fire in my shows but I live in PA! for those that don't know Montana really is the last frontier in america. people are flocking there in droves and soon it will come crumbling down just like the rest of the country but for now and hopefully a few more years it still is a wonderful wonderful place to live. people walk around carrying guns, shot guns and knives and you're worried about using a little bit of fire LOL so don't worry about the fire on the wand it looks cool. sam

I had the same thought about the phallic-shaped heart. I probably wouldn't leave the heart-on. (yes, pun intended).
I like the rest of it, though. Clean and simple. CHRISTOPHER LYLE: Why does your rabbit look so p****d off?

Kameron and I have spoke at length in the past about his kid show image, he has heard it all before, he has made up his mind, so leave him alone. If I were hiring a magician for my kids party I would hire Christopher Lyle in a minute.
The really ironic thing about this issue is that in Dallas, TX. Christopher Lyle is considered edgy. LOL

As a child entertainer You could do much better at producing a more kid friendly image. This might be good art, but for marketing purposes it is promotional suicide. I think you should consult with an advertising professional. Your image and reputation are worth it in the end.

Honestly, I think some of the other cartoon logos I've seen are aiming at younger market then I'm going for. Christophers is cool, but it is WAY too busy and WAY too colorful IMO. It looks like someone threw up skittles. Not in quality, it looks awesome, but for that many bright colors... It's just not me. And I didn't want something caricature like. I think some kids magicians talk down to kids too much. Days have changed since you were a kid. They have the internet now...
Posted: May 1, 2012 8:04pm I don't do a lot of shows for under 6 year olds. And 7 year olds are smart lately. I cant get away with hippity hop rabbits for much longer! I have done fire eating for kids shows for over 10 years. If I made it more cartoony, or as cartoony as Christophers, I would probably get a lot of shows I would rather not do(no offence!). 5 and under should be for clowns. IMO, if they are that young, they will not enjoy magic as much as a clown or the like. And if I do shows for that young of a kid, I will not enjoy doing them. |
