After seeing a lot of story decks I’m wondering why nobody uses flourishes to visualize events or elements of the story.
Here is an example of how this could be implemented as an intro: Flourish: "Pattern": Card scaling (Or hover card) - “On a spinning planet” 180 degrees split fan (Double fan) - “Under a blue moon” Separate fans. - “That mirrors itself” Concave card springing - “In a trickling” Table S spread - “creek, flowing between” Table spread, Mountain tops - “two mountain tops” Convex card springing - “to a thundering” Waterfall flourish - “waterfall” - “where.... Story starts.... |

After seeing many story deck routines I would think that the flourishes that lead to a pun would be the more likely candidates. The use of flourishes also eliminates the plot of the performer not being in control of what card is next.
I would imagine that there is also an element of some performer trying so hard to remember the story that they are unable to concentrate on flourishes. Also it seems that most story decks deal with clubs, drinking and personal intrigue. Not a lot of night clubs near thundering waterfalls. |

How about this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1RFwzMJjew In this routine he does something a little different from what you are describing. But find the right song and apply your idea (Flourishes that paint visual pictures), and you might have something. |

Wow. This is a beautiful piece of card artistry. Whether you perceive it as "magical" or "skillful," Shawn is to be congratulated on creating it.
