I don't talk about it here much, but besides magic, I'm an avid theatre fan... I'm an actor, playwright, director, and as of recently, a singer. I just finished appearing in a musical revue, which was a blast.

Here's my first ever singing video. This is my performance at a concert tonight, singing Beautiful City from the musical Godspell. I hope you enjoy it!

It's amazing, isn't it, that so few members of a magicians forum are actually in show business. I've always loved all forms of theater, especially musicals. (I met my first wife when I played first violin in a production of "The Music Man." "'Til There was You" was our wedding song.)

Well done, Michael. Hope to see you on Broadway one day!

I've actually performed in many different types of entertainment. Many here know about the time that I auditioned for the X-Factor.
I was a drama geek in high school, and made it into advanced drama class (which had to be auditioned for at the time.) I was recommended for this class after playing a klansman in The Foreigner at the civic theatre. I was in a couple of musicals in high school, including the role of the evil magician in Frosty the Snowman, and as a random T-Bird in Grease.

I've done many other types of performing arts, but I'm no stranger to acting or musical theatre.

It doesn't really matter to me who is or isn't batting for the Yankees on here, I just saw a good place for a punchline.

What is a comedy pal? You know, I haven't performed in about three years due to my school schedule.

That wasn't directed at you critter. It was just a general observation that I think is true. I'd venture to say that less than five percent of "magicians" actually make their living in show business.

Definitely a contender for "Weirdest Thread of the Year Award".
If I were to agree with you. Then we would both be wrong. As of Apr 5, 2015 10:26 pm I have 880 posts. Used to have over 1,000

I can't decide if a comedy background is an advantage or disadvantage in the lab. I keep thinking of experiments that are more like pranks Smile

Speaking of comedy in a lab howzabout magic? A kid I knew, geez in the late 70s, was an excellent magician. He did a show and a computer science prof saw him and wanted him to work with 3D programs so he got Jason a full scholarship to UC Santa Cruz.

Every thread in this forum gets so off-track! Weird indeed.
