Dual Edge is a KILLER card trick. One of the best ever in this plot. Bravo, Rus Andrews And Mark Bendell!
I don't use the blank deck kicker. They've already been gobsmacked and I think it's overkill. I just use a regular deck, which I think makes it stronger. That also helps in being able to do something else without carrying two decks. I'll share a bit of how I perform Dual Edge. Instead of going for a black jack hand, I say every card in the deck has a mate: For the Queen of Hearts, it's the Queen of Diamonds, etc. We reveal their card and then mine...sadly, they don't match. I say "Unless you have really bad eye sight, those don't match. But remember the envelope? Would you open it and take out the cards". They are a PERFECT match for the cards we chose. We did find the mates! I find people laugh at that point. I "think" it's because they have the feeling the trick didn't seem to work and then in the envelope, which they've forgotten about, it has the mates. Then I finish the routine with the killer ending. They are stunned by it because it seems so impossible. It's easy to reset. If you did restaurant work and used the Kaylor U.C.C.U. you could keep the 2 cards and slip them in the deck when needed. http://www.magictao.co.uk/Dual-Edge-by-R......0andrews Magic Tao has free shipping specials and answers e-mail inquiries quickly. Have just picked this up at the 2013 Bristol Day of Magic......yep...crewing and the missus both colluded and I was allowed a bijou trip some 3500 nautical miles to Bristol especially for the magic......as I said, just picked this up and am LOVING it! I keep the routine essentially the same as scripted but I was struck with vague similarities to the plot of a 2 deck trick by Dan Paulus and thought that I might utilise one or two points from his effect which actually, IMHO, improves the handling here in Dual Edge. Minor changes, really, but they make the handling almost self-working. Other than that, I do it as scripted and it is a knockout! If you are interested in my changes to the handling then please feel free to pm me for details.....
Because I spent a little bit of money with the lovely guys at Tao Magic, they allowed me to pick one or two other effects up alongside of my purchases and I left with Trauma, also by Rus Andrews. Lovely little effect based around an elmsley count and a little magicians choice - certainly worth a look and very straightforward to do but packing a good punch! in short, four blank cards are shown and one is placed in the spectators hands. After a little verbal by-play the jack of diamonds is singled out by your audience and this turns out to be the card that the spectator is holding, whilst the other 3 cards turn out to have changed to the other 3 jacks......
Have you tried 'Up The Ante' yet?? The ultimate gambling demo....a self-working wonder! See the reviews here on the cafe.
