Hi!
I would like to read your opinions about using a Blammo to change a dove to a woman. Do you think it would look bizarre (with the size of the box)? Also, do you know the name of the effect in which the magician has a handkerchief in his hands and it flies from his hand to enter in a cage. At the end, the cage opens like a Blammo? To finish, if you know someone who wants to sell a Gemini cage, PM me! Thanks for your help. |

A bigger concern to me than how bizarre it would look to use a Blammo with a dove is how dangerous would it be for the dove? I have a blammo and the panel is spring loaded and comes down hard. If the dove is in the wrong place, it will get squashed.
A Blammo is an enlarged version of Chalet Magic's Visible Doves to Rabbit. Chalet also makes a Silk to Rabbit. The reason I bring this up is that the Silk to Rabbit is spring loaded because you are only using a silk. The Doves to Rabbit is not spring loaded for to avoid hurting a dove that moves. I don't think Blammo is the way to go to get the effect you want. Michael |

I agree. I have a Chalet Blamo, and the panel comes down extremely fast (and hard). There would be ways to customize the mechanics of the illusion to allow for it to safely work with the bird, but it could compromise the effect.
A series of effects could be possible...dove to silk (or other object), and then climax with the silk in a Blamo. Just a thought. |

Hi!!
I had a Blammo box with a view to changing doves into a girl some years ago. The guys that have replied to you already are right, the prop does have the scope to flatten your doves!! By the way I never put doves in mine after seeing the speed of the flap. A slower flap will compromise the trick. The doves to girl sold by Creative Illusions seems much safer. Regards Scott |

Talk to George at Chalet Magic. He has been building these things for years. He will know what to do.

My Blammo comes down fast and hard. I've seen people use animals with it, but I don't see how without hurting the critter. Contact Ed Alonzo ... he used a duck for years in his blammo.
I just use a silk. After a short silk routine, I drop the silk into the blammo and the girl appears in an outfit the same color as the silk. |

I worked on the Blammo box with Ed and helped to alter it in order to keep the duck safe. Although the duck was safe at all times, I don't think a dove would ever be safe in a Blammo box. Their small size makes them more fragile than a duck and enables them to maneuver their heads into smaller more dangerous areas of the box. I agree with Scott, Creative Illusions Dove to Girl seems like a much safer route to take.

Why not switch the dove for a rubber fake and use that? The trap will close and the bird will be flat.
