I have both, but I prefered Ignition... after I made a hole on my teeshirt.
I don't want this thing happen in live performance. You have to choose carefully the material. Marc |

I have Phantom Knife and I really like it. I use my own hanky and a borrowed bill and it gets really good reactions. I might order Ignition so I can first penetrate the bill and then put the knife thru the hanky and bill !

How many that voted for Ignition have seen Phantom Knife? IM asking cause when I saw Ignition I thought it was Obvious, But friends have told me that its an amazing trick. And all the magazines are giving Phantom Knife a pretty good review. My thought is a little different, what will have a bigger impact on the spectator? A rip in there bill, or a knife through the shirt or jacket?

I bought Ignition.
The main reason is that I am a restaurant performer. Getting a use of a bill is more conducive in that atmosphere than borrowing someones coat or shirt. Plus there are reports of the article of clothing being harmed using the knife.

See now I'm pinned again, I was all for Phantom Knife and now I am reading people say that it has damaged spectators clothing. So I don't know!

Knifes don't fit my style so Ignition is a good break from my perfect pen.
Also why any one would wan't to use a knife near any spectators clothing is beyond me? Just my 2 bob's worth.

Ignition is worth it's weight in gold!
I have just finished a gig for Embrace Australia at Westfields Miranda in Sydney. If I hadn't shown the shop owner Ignition I would not have landed the booking. Whilst recieving change from my purchase Ignition was brought into play, one business card latter and a four hour booking of close up magic was taken. $450 cash and one knarly looking gargoil thrown in as well. Ignition rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phantom Knife is stunning as long as you use it as Richard teaches. He wouldn't risk his reputation by putting out rubbish. The people who have had issues haven't properly understood the mechanics and conditions around how to use it.
Ignition is ok, it's basically pen-thru with a car key, whereas Phantom Knife is a totally different method that defies explanation. Phantom Knife goes through cloth, Ignition goes through paper. Ignition receives a good reaction but Phantom Knife receives gasps. I have both and use Phantom Knife while out performing, Ignition stays at home.

Jamie,
If as you say, "The people who have had issues haven't properly understood the mechanics and conditions around how to use it." and experienced magicians have posted that they have had some issues using it, then it does indeed pose a potential risk that many aren't willing to take. Somehow you don’t seem to think that is a valid concern simply because you personally haven't had such issues. If any significant number of magicians "haven't properly understood the mechanics and conditions around how to use it" then it definitely has more risk involved. It may well all be "user error" but when there is a larger amount of such user error then some people are correct to go with the prop with less (or no) risk. With regard to which gets a better reaction, well that is highly dependent upon the presentation. You most likely put a lot more effort into your presentation of The Phantom Knife based on your preference for it. Jim |

Not really, I just get batter reactions from PK because the handling is so clean compared to Ignition. There's no extra bits so nothing to ditch meaning hands are empty from start to finish. Also, no worries about an extra piece going missing, a major consideration for a worker like me.

I vote for Phantom knife it is very very good.
Jamie is right those not getting on with it are not understanding how it works. If you just push your knife through your shirt or someone elses I would not be surprised to see it leave a hole!! As with many things you must read the instructions and understand them. If you fully understand the principle behind Phantom Knife you will get good use out of it, I use my own cloth and paper tissues so I'm always set. This way there is no worry about damaging anything. I sometimes use the table cloth or napkins in hotels which are easy enough to check out before you start.

I still ahve my eye on Phantom Knife, I was going it but just kept with Ignition. I lost my gimmicked part of it, darnit! It's worth the $20 to get it, such a great penetration.
