I just ordered new business cards that have a QR code that leads people to my web site, and I also included my facebook "FAN" page address (not a QR code) on my new card too. IMHO the facebook fan page is just as important as a QR code.
My fan page address is. http://www.facebook.com/#!/albonnie1

Close Up Dave,
Pros and cons to both, some like to know who they are scanning, others like the adventure; on my bus it is obvious who I am and what they are scanning. I also print 1"X1" labels that I paste everywhere I can get away with it that says “CHILDRENS MAGIC SHOW”. I also print QR codes that say nothing that I paste to things like ketchup bottles in restaurants |

Your bus makes it obvious why they should scan it, an instant reward makes it obvious why they should scan it, the mystery of a random qr code on a ketchup bottle makes it obvious why they should scan it. But an ad that has a qr code squeezed into it for the sake of having it there is a waste. |

The ketchup bottle QR code goes to a special page offering a $25.00 discount on my show as a reward for being adventuress. The bus is for more information about me because they first have shown an interest, the second has no initial interest and needs a little help to convince. It’s more than having a QR code; it’s using it to the best advantage |

The biggest mistake most people make is using a QR code that sends them to a web page designed for a desktop screen. Makes it nearly impossible to read on a smartphone. If you're going to use a QR code make sure it delivers a mobile optimized page that is EASY to read without scrolling back and forth all over the page. I guarantee you're losing visitors as fast as they arrive if it's difficult to navigate.

I have coded my own website, so I know a little bit about web design, but anyone have any tips on how to make a site smartphone friendly, ie what is required?

I thought about putting a QR code on my business card, but it is redundant, since both my web site and email are already there. But I have included it on a three-fold flyer, so that, if the customer is interested enough to go thru the flyer and want more, they can go directly to the site.
A nice tool, since smartphones have outsold laptops and desktop computers worldwide... Lee |

Content is based on minimal info needed for a smartphone user browsing for your services. Put the template in a subdirectory called m.yourwebsitename.com and add your content. You will need to do a 'javascript redirect' from your main site so it knows when a user is browsing from a mobile device. Google 'javascript mobile redirect code'. Change the script to point to your m.yourwebsitename.com directory. |

You can print up to three on an Avery address label. Cut apart and put on the back of your business cards to target your specific markets when handing them out.
