If you have a local magic store, pay them a visit. Ask if they give lessons. Choose your mentor/instructor wisely.
Some people will be very happy to teach you and encourage you with your progress. Then there are others that snicker and actually insult you and still think that they WILL be your instructor. They are only interested in your hard earned money. One instructor actually TOLD me that he WILL teach me via skype. He was TELLING me this, NOT asking me to do this. I had to laugh inside. He's this guy that insults my purchases, doesn't listen to what I have to say with any kind of respect, and tells me what I should buy. His condescending, insults, and immature behavior is unbelievable for a person of his age. He deems himself an intellectual. It's not intelligent to insult your client and purchaser of many of your effects. He obviously will not be my mentor, but he will be totally unable to grasp the reasons as to why. Insulting your potentional client obviously isn't intelligent, yet he has no problem unleashing many derogatory remarks and outright insults to my face. Choose your mentor wisely. Keep looking until you find a respectful person who is more interested in actually teaching and helping you, than stroking his own ego while taking your money. You could also google for local magicians and ask them if they give lessons. Good luck. Don't let people discourage you. Simple move on. Michael Jordon was told in high school that he wasn't good enough to make the team. Follow his determination. He knew better. |
