Does anyone know if anybody has a matrix using only one card? If so where can I find it?
I came up with one today using only one card and one with a reverse. Thanks Joe

Mystre,
There are quite a few matrix's with only one card. Paul Harris has a version (Free Flight) in his 'Art of Astonishment' books. Chris Kenner has a version called 'After Shock' which is based on the Paul Harris one. And the list goes on... |

Earl Nelson has an effect called “The $1.50 Vanish” in his book "Variations". Although it is not a true Matrix, it does just use 'one' card. I hope that helps.

John Kennedy's "Impossible Matrix" uses just one card, although it is a special card.

BroDavid, actually Kennedy's “Impossible Matrix” uses two cards, one of which is special.

"Impossible Matrix" has the most abnormal handling I've ever seen for a matrix.
I am personally not a big fan of the gimmicked card route. There are other ways to accomplish even more impossible matrix routines. Here is one idea I've been working with: http://home.comcast.net/~davidsole/Magicvids/futurevanish.rm All the best, DaveM |

Yeah, I have a few handlings. And a few reverse and backfire handlings. Along with a few international handlings! I would have to look through my books to tell you what's in print and what's not! I know that I had a one-card backfire handling in print in my Double coin book in 1988!

There is one in the book "Unexpected Visitor" which, by the way is an excellent resource.

Larry Davidson Said: I didn't like it when I got it, and have since accidentally acquired another in a bunch of stuff, and I guess I never really read the instructions though, since I only saw the gimmicked card and gave up on the whole thing. Sorry for the misinformation. I do own it (2 of them) but made that mistake anyway. BroDavid

Mutobe performs and explains his Three Coin Assembly in the “Steven's Magic of Japan” video. This routine involves three coins and one card.
I myself devised a variation that involves four coins and one card with a backfire ending. Tomoo

Free Flight by Paul Harris is great. Funny patter as well.
Boy, that guy is funny.

MartyK,
What do you mean?? I've been polishing that, and two other similar routines here recently. I just decide on an unorthodox ending, and then do whatever is necessary to accomplish it. This thinking has opened up a lot of doors for my coin work. All the best, DaveM |

Kennedy's Impossible Matrix is fantastic if you don't use the gimmick card.

I don't get your point. If you don't use the gimmicked card, it's not Kennedy's Impossible Matrix.

I've been having a lot of fun with this effect again ( put it away, worked on other Matrix effects, etc. ) The gimmick is nice, but I wanted to do it with out it. The routine actualy gets better after the gimmick is put away ( that's from the original routine ).
