I love to combine 20th Century Silk with Silk to Egg. The patter possibilities are endless. Since virtually any color combinations you could want are available in 20th Century Silks, coming up with appropriate routines for your sponsor is a snap.

Bob -
Do most people order 2 matching colour silks for the two outer silks in a 20th Century set? Or do they order 2 different colour silks for the two outer silks? - Donald

End silks that are matching colors cover many solutions to problems nobody wants. By all means stick to end silks that match.
It is also usually significant to the patter about "things together" and "coming in between". |

February is here and some of you will be doing Blue Gold Banquets for Scouts.
To that purpose, I only have a few sets of 20th Century Silks left in appropriate colors for that. There is no plan to replace them due to my age and anticipated retirment. In 18" pure China silk ($32) 2 sets Blue w/Yellow (bright yellow) center 3 sets Blue w/Gold (School Bus yellow) center In 24" Pure China Silk ($85) 1 set Blue w/Yellow (bright yellow) center The pros will tell you why they use these. They are made for pros, not magic dealers. |

"Anticipated retirement", Bob? Say it ain't so. Well, I hope that does not keep you completely away from The Magic Café. You have helped so many along the way here.

If you work for kids, buy a set of Bob's 20C silks, while he still has some!
I'm writing up my routine (which is next to closing) in my show, in the book--which is almost finished.

Thanks folks! Leaving magic is not in the plans. But reality is that I'll soon be 70. I've been an entrepreneur all my life and loved it. I started paying Federal income tax at age 12. In my entire life I have inherited the grand total of $1100. The rest gratefully has all been earned income. God Bless America! It has been the land of opportunity. Methodically that has changed. The first rule in duck hunting is go where there are ducks. Entrepreneurship is no longer an American thing. Perhaps the momentum will change. I will be praying for it.
But smart money is leaving the USA for all of the right reasons. The facts are that the USA is aggressively going out of business. The opportunities enjoyed for over 200 years are no longer here like they were under free enterprise. This old business professor can't change that alone. If staying in the silk business, the logical thing to do is move it to where capitalism is encouraged and is not the host animal to the parasites. At my age that is not likely. I am a patriotic veteran who invested in America and even signed away my veteran's benefits because America owes me nothing. I'm planning to stay. And I plan to continue magic and being with my friends. (Lucy plans to stay an Out-Of-Network physician so she can deliver patient healthcare instead of Government Surveillance as long as it is still legal. I married Mother Teresa!) LOL! When I'm gone you'll simply have even more card magic and less stage magic. After all, there was a time when Water to Wine ruled. Don't count me out! I'll still be active in magic and hanging out with my friends. I love you guys! |
