Alright, since Paul opened the proverbial can of worms, I guess I'll take the bait!

...are you saying that your audiences believe they have seen a genuine demonstration of teleportation in your magic act? Hey Ma, ring the Weekly World News.:):) They may not believe it is teleportation as I present and describe it. I'm sure they do not believe that the spectators are responsible for the transposition as I suggest. However, they do not have any RATIONAL explanation. Seriously, I have had the most intelligent people come up to me to express their complete amazement regarding this effect. And yes, there are people in my audiences who believe I am performing real magic. And they are RIGHT! Okay, put down your torches. Here's what I mean: I am using psychology and subtlety to manipulate their perceptions so that REAL MAGIC occurs within their minds. That's where it happens. That is what I do -- I create the experience of magic. I use whatever tools I can. In "Red Rover" you'll notice that I systematically negate every possible explanation (sometimes while boldly using the exact method I am negating!). No extra cards, No duplicates, Exactly 10 for you & you, Just think of one, Now exactly nine remain, I won't touch yours, you counted them yourself, I don't even know what the card is, (it arrives) there are no gimmicks. Remember, I switch out at the end (but the audience already believes the cards I hold are normal, I just like to give them away). Yes, my attitude and presentation feed their perceptions. I could easily "punch-up" the routine with a bunch of jokes and it would play as a very entertaining trick. That's not my intention. I take it seriously and so do they. They experience real magic and I do not offer them any out. --Dan Harlan |

I have been using Red Rover in my walk around and it is getting HUGE reactions. After performing some simply amazing card magic, a simple in the jacket deck switch to Red Rover and I think people are now making up cuss words to describe what happened. Thanks Mr Harlan for ANOTHER great effect. (I have been using his Mind Surf as a quick opener to feel out the table before deciding to go into my set).
"...let us now rejoin our foolish friends and commence the book properly." G.H.
