Show description:
The plan is simple: take 4 relatively unknown magicians trying to take their magic somewhere, pit them against each other in competition and let a viewing audience select the winner.  They will face many challenges and obstacles with the different scenarios and themed events in which they will compete. We will run the first season strictly as a webseries, with the full intention of taking it to a major network to be picked up.  It will be better television than a show about last years divas. The magicians selected all sent in audition tapes and were selected carefully.  They each have different personalities which will make for some good TV.  Some of these guys are all relatively new to the performance side of magic (meaning they have been hobbyists or enthusiists).  Others have been performing for a few years now, but have failed to this point to break out. They are human.  They have flaws just like everyone else.  Self confidence issues must be overcome.  Perfectionists may have to cope with failure. Others may have performance anxieties.  Some find they are considered too young by their peers to perform professionally.  All this and yet they all possess the talent and ability to make it. They just need to live it for themselves- to taste some success.  To experience what it is like to have fan support and a following.  We imagine the show will showcase the hardships and  triumph as these magicians progress through out the show.  Whatever the outcome,  it WILL make for some interesting and entertaining television. The magicians selected will travel to 5 cities in Texas and shoot the entire season in 7 days.  They will work restaruants, bars, street corners, parks, weddings, parties, and corporate events.  A camera crew and a show representative will follow wherever they go.  Tips will be gathered and donated to the Wounded Warrior Project (another way the magicians will score points), and the audience will get to vote on their favorite magician.  It will be a very exciting and action filled week with plenty of surprising appearances from the magic community and other celebrities as well.  Hosted by  seasoned professional comedy magician John O'Bryant, who is HIGHLY sought after by schools, colleges and corporations all over Texas and the country. John will bring insight that only an experienced magician who is still close to his roots can give. John has brought a lot of input and planning to the table and with his help, entertainment will not be a problem for this show. This project is the brainchild of creator/producer David Cook. As an experienced magician and owner of 2 magic shops in San Antonio, Texas,  David has spent the past several years promoting magic and mentoring fellow magicians throughout the state. Having served as the Ring 18 President of The International Brotherhood of Magicians, and as Area Representative of the Texas Association of Magicians, David has continued his quest to further the careers of young magicians. Be sure to like the show on Facebook too. |

Well their is a tv show in the works already like this. But its using actors who are struggling to make it. They travel accross the country performing in different venues etc and end in LA with the hope to be selected for representation and I think a national commercial deal.
But good idea and will be a great web series. Chad ps...the name Layman Slayer is not my favorite. I would rethink it. |
