I prefer Aces in Their Faces.

Hi,
I was just experimenting with Mr. Harris's Ace Trap (a "four ace" trick in AoA 1, pg. 155). Looks pretty straightforward, but good to me. Does anyone else have opinions on this trick? Oh yeah, I must say my favorite four ace trick is the Invisible Palm, quick and very visually stunning. Cheers |

Why do NFW when you can do NGW? - more transformations / climaxes, totally clean, no accomodating jokes...

Lately I have using my version of an Aldo Colombini effect called "The Aces Are Gone". It's very baffling and different from the typical 4 aces trick.

McDonald's aces smokes them. I end my act with this and palm the gaffs and leave the deck behind. I've been told they examine the cards after I leave and talk about the effect.

I'm going to have to say Invisible palm aces, but I think 1002nd Aces is a very close second. I tend to put the two together in my routines.

For a non-gaffed routine, the one I just started doing by Earl Nelson (Variations) is pretty darn good.
I've modified it to be more magical (I think) and I don't remember the name of it. I'll find out and post it here. It goes like this... Show 4 aces and have a specky hold them between their hands so you cannot get to them. Have the spectator select another card. Add it to the 4 aces. The spectator tries to find the stranger card among the aces and cannot. It's gone. The stranger card ends up face down in a face-up deck. I've added the following: I add the stranger card face down into face-up aces and sort of shuffle it in visibly. The stranger card appears to vanish as you count thru the cards. Then it really is gone. You're left with just 4 face-up aces. The stranger card is found back in the deck. So I've just added the visual effect of a face-down stranger card disappearing among face-up aces before the spectator's eyes. I'll get the name and post it here. Frank

I like to do Twisting the Aces and then follow with Flash Aces from Close Up Card Magic, which I say is the World's Fastest Card Trick.

Personally I like twisting aces, because with that you can incorporate other tricks right after it like Bizarre Twist (Paul Harris' Art of Astonishment) (with 3 aces) then followed by bizarre vanish it makes for a nice clean routine that absolutely blows people away.
