No it is not silent. Skar-nee is the pronunciation with the accent on the first syllable.

Yea... it's Skar-nee... saw some films of him being introduced on a TV show once. I recall the strange looks I would get when I was in Junior High... walking the halls with his Complete Guide to Gambling tucked under my arm. I even have a few Teeko games on display in my den for those of you whom remember that.
