I'm looking for the precursor to the CSB set.
Kurtz uses it in his Trio-in-3 effect.

I bought mine through Johnson Products. Seems to be a good quality piece.

Is this about the "two copper and one silver" coin set? It uses a twenty centavo, an English Penney, and a Half dollar. I believe Johnson Products was making these at one time.

They still are Jon. Lassen makes the best out right now.

Todd is the coin man. I get all my coins through him. It's worth the expense!!

Johnson's Two Copper/One Silver is good. Lassen's is GREAT. Most of the others are substandard. One distinguishing characteristic to look for is thickness. For routines in which the coin is always in the palm of your hand, thickness is less of an issue. However, if you intend to place the coin on the table, near its normal counterparts, thickness becomes a big issue. Todd's coin is perfect. The older Johnson coins were also fine. Sterling and Sasco were too thick and bogus looking too. I did find a newer Johnson that was noticeably too thick. I'm not sure if that was a fluke or if Johnson is now manufacturing a thicker coin than before. Perhaps someone who has purchased a Johnson Two Copper One Silver, can comment. Remember, the issue is whether or not the gaff is exactly the same thickness as the normal counterpart.

I do own a Hopping Half set and part of it seems to me IS a 2 copper one silver, but I'm not really sure of the terminology.
Can someone pm me and tell me what the 2 copper - 1 silver actually is? Perhaps I already have one and don't know it?

I had the same problem; not having the Connie Hayden set, and used two old English pennies. It works just the same, and I don't think it loses anything.
I hope this makes sense, as I don't want to give away too much. Eddie |

Apparently Mike Caveney, who used to work at Johnson making coins, went by one day and noted a flaw in a batch of coins. They had forgotten the dimensions, or some such something.
Problem there is no one that works there is a magician. I think the best version of the trick is Ken Brooke's "CHINESE BIT" using a Chinese coin as one of the coins. The routine is clever as well.

Hi Frank,
I posted the exact construction of the two copper/one silver coin in the Secret Sessions forum. It seemed inappropriate to describe it here. Mike

Ok. So I ended up getting the Johnson Set, which uses An English penny, a Mexican centavo, and a Kennedy Half.
It was ~$40.

If you buy or have bought (I should have posted this earlier) the following:
1x Kennedy Half 1x Sun & Moon Coin (JOHNSON) 1x Chinese black/brass coin (JOHNSON) Then make the s**** of the Sun & Moon coin as flat as you can by sanding down the face-side (or use a lathe instead which I did), do the same with the Chinese coin ... then glue or solder these 2 flat coins together, make the edges equal (is not too much). This has the advantage of a coin edge brass and dirty copper instead of brass and shiny silver. Then ... yep, then you have a fine CSB-gimmick which uses the English penny instead the unusual Mexican coin (at least here in Germany). I sold my original CSB from Johnson and I'm still happy with MY CSB-gimmick. I don't have to explain my spectator’s that I use a Mexican coin for one trick but an English penny for another trick. It's always the Kennedy half, the Chinese coin and the old English penny. I should mention that you need a little experience with making coin gimmicks, but this one is easily made. Enjoy!
