I have seen/felt counterfeit cards from China. Aviators, Bees and more.
Most were sold online and they do have a way to tell the difference. The Aviators have the Cincinnati address on one edge of the box, but say "Made in China" on the other edge. Additionally, the bottom of the box is a flap, not glued. Beware. And if you get any, please report it to the merchant AND USPCC. SEY |

They sell them in some dollar stores and flea markets for $1.00. The one's I've seen are Bee Club Special. The finish is rough and the the Jokers are clearly fake. They are good for coasters.

I've told this story before, but I ordered Bees from Ebay a few years back. From a distance, they looked legit in the box and out of it, but they were fake. Not only were they fake and very rough, but they smelled bad. Like cat pee. They had gibberish printed for the guarantee on the box flap.
They were also marked, which was by far the most interesting feature, though not the most noticeable.

I bought a few aviators from albertsons and one was made in china. The rest are made in USA, interesting.

I will do that. Wasn't sure what to do and didn't notice the counterfeit until reading your post, so thank you.

I posted the other day about those awful Streamlines I bought at Winco for .96 cents. After reading the OP here I looked at all of my cards and it turns out that's the only deck I have that says "Made in China" on them.
It also says they're supposed to be made by USPCC but they have the non glued flap on the bottom and no USPCC seal. At any rate, they're crap.

USPCC has farmed out Streamline production before. They have had them produced in Spain and in China. Other card people have stated the quality of the Chinese decks was so bad that USPCC had to bring production back to the US. I'm sure there are many Chinese decks left though. They sell them on Ebay.

So you're saying they are not counterfeit, just cheap?

Yes, in regards to the Streamlines. The Aviators I don't know, but I never heard about them being made in China by USPCC. Therefore, I would go with what Steve has said about them since he seems to have personal knowledge and contact with USPCC. |

Thank you for the clarification.

The Bees I bought for a dollar were counterfeit. The quality was terrible, words were misspelled, and the jokers were not the same. No way USPCC would allow their joker logo to be changed even if their production was outsourced. Maybe some low quality approved cards were made but not the ones I bought.
When I was looking for wholesale sources for Bicycle decks for the two proprietary gaffed decks that I sell at my website I found all sorts of ridiculously low prices on line from overseas which I suspected were counterfeit. My regular Bike decks were eventually bought from a wholesaler in the USA which I used to make up the gaffed decks. They were perfect and consistent in quality. Larry |

I'll let the near-monopolist USPCC do its own intellectual-property policing.

Anyway, we should still be able to do all the sleights with these ****ty cards, at least that's what I am aiming for

I believe that these "Joe Porper card clips" may also be counterfeit:
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/439......ers.html I emailed the link to Joe Porper about a week ago and asked if he would be able to tell me if they are counterfeit, but I haven't heard back yet.

You can bet your hard earned money those clips are fakes. I bet they aren't even pictures of what they are selling. Last year or the year before I sent Joe a link about a questionable site in Asia somewhere. He responded to me that they were counterfeits. I emailed the website operator, and he said that the wholesaler who supplied them to him said they were Joe Porper's and he didn't know how to tell if they were fake or real. I said he should send one to Joe to have it checked out, but Joe already said that they were fakes. I don't think he sent one to Joe, but he did take down the text "Porper Original" from some parts of the site, though it would still show up if you went to look at that item specifically.

Yeah I'm just over 99.999% positive that they are knock-offs. I was kind of hoping maybe Joe could take some action to stop them from exploiting his trusted name and possible damaging his reputation by selling what is likely a shoddy fake.
