Okay, since you asked:
Limbaugh on Sandra Fluke: "What does it say about the college co-ed [Sandra] Fluke who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex -- what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex." on Michelle Obama: "Fat" "Uppity" (If you don't see the racism there you won't see it anywhere.) on Chelsea Clinton: "the White House dog" (When Chelsea was 13 YEARS OLD! Nice guy, huh?) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-......dog.html just in general: "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back." –responding to a black caller he was having a hard time understanding. No hate there, eh? I could continue forever, but you get the idea. I found those references in less than a minute on Google. Not even close. When is the last time Maher went after a 13 year old or made racist cracks directed at private citizens?
In the meantime, Arkansas Tea Party leader, Inge Marler, tells a racist joke at tea party rally. The audience loved it. Quote:

Ask any random 10 women what the most offensive word they can be called is, and I'll lay you 2-1 the majority winner starts with a 'C'. "Slut" isn't even in the same ballpark. As far as I know, Limbaugh hasn't dropped that one. Maher said it's "the only word for [Palin]."

I'm aware of what he said, but your suggestion illustrates the nature of polls. It's all in how you phrase the question. Yes, most women probably would call the "C" word the generally most offensive. BUT, I'll bet you anything that if you took a poll of all women asking who they found more offensive to women, Maher or Limbaugh, Rush would win hands down. I think that might be because most women would agree that Palin is offensive to them as well.

Which is in no small part a function of their political views, particularly on abortion. If you could do a double-blind study of their respective top-10 comments, without revealing who said them or whom they were said about, and so even the survey taker didn't know, I think Maher woukd "win.". Not possible, obviously, but an interesting thought exercise.

I agree with that. But, taken out of any context, it would just be a poll on what words were generally considered more offensive than others, and would bear no relation to which person they found to be more offensive.
For example, one statement might read, "She is the most despicable (c-word) who ever lived." By itself that would generally be offensive. But it would certainly be very relevant to know if the remark was directed at Tokyo Rose or Shirley Temple. You could, additionally, include unattributed comments by George Carlin and Lenny Bruce and they would probably be found most offensive at all. But, in the end, it's all about context. |

Fact is Bob you seem to want to vote which person people THINK have said the most offensive things. With a 20 year drum beat of hate against the man Limbaugh would lose. The media downplays Maher and you should be able to see it.
Groups like Media Matters hang on his EVERY WORD trying to take things out of context. Family dog, out of line. Does not rise to the level of vulgarity that Maher does. The man is vulgar plain and simple Bob. It seems as if you are saying the words used don't matter. That can't be your position. He has said things that are disgusting and vulgar and funny after the lecture from our president, a man he gave a million dollars to, about civil discourse it is ironic. Why not give back the dough? This is what I mean Bob. YOU are not a hater, but you give this guy a pass by saying he is not as bad as right wing guys doing far less. You do not hate, but you do tolerate an awful lot of nonsense just in the name of a guy being a liberal. See the difference? I am saying Limbaugh crosses lines, and man right wing guys do. (Although about Fluke he did sincerly apologise. Has your pal Marer ever done that?) I think they are out of control and shade the discussion pretty badly. But at least I can admit it. Your blinders don't allow you to do so.

A twenty year drumbeat of hate AT Limbaugh?
That would be FROM Limbaugh, wouldn't it? And now Maher is my PAL? Please refer back to my much earlier post in which I said I really didn't care for him all that much. It seems sometimes that you want to portray me as having the most extreme left position possible, when that really isn't true. What don't I like about Maher? He's snide, very often needlessly offensive (particularly towards peoples religious beliefs), and too self important. Would I pay to go to one of his concerts? No. Doesn't sound like a pal to me. Limbaugh, though, is a political demagogue who intentionally stirs up hate with his constant racist and misogynistic diatribes. Maher, on the other hand, is trying to be the next Mort Saul or Lenny Bruce. The problem is he just doesn't cut it. |

I thought I said I didn't particularly care for him. Obviously I think that Limbaugh and others, who have a much broader audience and a DIRECT influence on the politics of the right, are far more dangerous. Note that you will rarely, if ever, see Republican politicians express outrage at Limbaugh, giving the impression that they don't want to alienate a large portion of their base who hang on Rush's every word.
On the other hand, Maher was roundly condemned for his offensive remarks by politicians and organizations of the left. And no one in the base was alienated by that. |

No Bob of course not. The language from the left is vulgar and course Bob. Again you are tolerant because you agree. Sort of sad.
