Ponta the smith's production in his "vanish" trick ("Sick" DVD) can also be done upside down, almost in a reverse spellbound position. I will have to demonstrate it. The original production, done smoothly and mastered, can be quite stunning. I think it looks like real magic, the coin simply "materializes" when done well.

Yes it is a great production. I was actually just watching sick about 2 days ago. I have been trying to brush back up on my coinwork. I have slacked off lately. between school, job hunting, and life in general I have not been able to practice like I used to

For about 15 years or so, I have been doing a coin production from a volunteers cap.(in walk around situations.
It is basically a plucked out of the air, but using the cap as an addtional prop. Does it add to the routine. Some might think so as it as a personal connection to the routine. The coins (4 or 5) get rolled (on the fingers not beat up) go through some changes(including going through the hat) and then "vanish" back into the hat. If you are in the Kansas City area let me know and we could coin jam. (Not as good as Peanut Butter and Jam..but with lots less calories) Harris still maintaining about 38 pounds out of 41 overall weight loss and still with palms of aluminum foil which meet between theatre and magic

There are several coin production routines on the NYCMS dvd series. They are not miserably dream productions, but entertaining. And most not very hard to do! As for miserably dream, there is a great routine on YouTube of Al Flosso. It always makes me smile. I can't get the link right now, but if I find it I will post it.

Yep, that was very nicely done.
I remember that in the Sylvester Pitch '98 video, he addresses the question as to the production of a coin at the fingertips and had some interesting thoughts on it. And there ain't too many people out there any better at ultimate coin manipulation than Sylvester The Jester IMHO, now or then.

You are most certainly right Vinny, Mano is remarkable. I still remember the day Eric Jones, long time back now, introduced me to Mano. Had him CP a coin right off a table, flat (go try doing that right now and see if you can do it) ... Something the great David Roth once said was impossible to do on one of his DVDs I believe.. It wasn't hard for Mano at all and that's when I knew he was something special with a very unique pair of hands.. Been calling him a friend ever since.
Tremendous coin and closeup worker. I've had the pleasure of watching him right up close many times and you see nothing but magic. You think some of these cats are real good, believe me, ain't too many of them any better than Mano that I've seen, and the ones that know him know it well enough.... Wicked man, WICKED!

Came across this short one from Mano...Just a brief glimmer from a very clever worker.
He can take this little twig and turn it into a raging fire of a performance. Can't wait to see someone produce this guy's work, he's got some unique ability and effects, and great magical presence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExSoeHh5S0M&feature=youtu.be

I did not think the first production was very magical on the mano lift. Maybe just a bad camera angle but the appearance was hidden by back of hand.

^ Looking forward to that, Al.
It would also be interesting to know the history of coin productions. Who first decided to pluck a coin out of thin air? Or from a spectator's ear? Or sleeve? I mention this because David Stone performs an elegant convincing coin from the sleeve. Buckley seemed to have his own unique way of producing a coin from Downs Palm. Slow reveal? Fast reveal? What are some opinions and preferences? How much anticipation is involved? I think Tommy Wonder was by far the best at "telegraphing" what MAY have happened before a coin was revealed. (IMPO). These are questions I constantly ponder to make our magic better.
