If your response is that no Baha'i would kill an abortion doctor, I'd suggest that probably not because of the teachings of your religion, but rather because people who are inclined to go around killing abortion doctors tend to not join your church.

Hi Bob,
I think we agree on most things, actually. Good thoughts, indeed! |

Peaceful people follow peaceful religions. When those people, who were already peaceful in the first place, then continue to act peacefully, you can't credit the peaceful religion for their peacefulness.
Or to put it another way, you seem to be attributing causation to correlation.

I agree with you but your discounting the reality that everyone has a heart and soul, whose natural calling is to live and apply that love by means of an education or guidance.
It is for this reason that millions of perceivably non-peaceful people have become peaceful AFTER adhering to a religion Kam

Kam- I appreciate that you mean this sincerely and in the best possible way. But any attempt to control "variation of thought" is totalitarianism regardless of motivation. And I am suspicious of anything called "explicit AUTHORITATIVE guidance." In fact, I find it rather frightening. I would rather live in a society with great variation of thought than to become a member of a Borg collective. Orwell's 1984 was a warning, not a suggestion. Good Thoughts, Bob I find that frightening. |

But Bob, I live in that environment now within the Bahai community.
You should go and seek some Baha'is in your neighbourhood and ask them if they feel anything but free and liberated. Kam

Do you remember the Twilight Zone episode "Number Twelve Looks Just Like You?"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_12_Looks_Just_Like_You They ALL, except the protagonist, felt they were happy and liberated. |

There are those who will tell you that the only way to be free is to be a slave - of God - and even name themselves as such.

Well you have to obey the gods whether you like it or not and the laws the gods have laid down are the laws of nature. Also the less you conform to sacred science the less efficiently entities, such as you, will operate in this world. When you are dead you are not going to be allowed take anything with you including your beliefs. Such is the power of the gods. So how do you slaves like them biscuits?

The reality is, the world has never experienced a unity totally based on love. The only things we have experienced is a repeated divisiveness based on hatred.
Just sayin....... Kam
