I was just wondering how many tries it took before you managed to hypnotise your first subject?
I'm struggling on myself but I thought I'd just find out. Thanks Gabz |

It's not a great question Gabz. That's NOT your fault by the way. It's the same one many of us ask in the beginning:)
If your activity knowledge and know-how are small the number of failures will increase until, by definition, your activity knowledge and know-how will increase. That in itself will increas your 'inspiration to action'. I hope this all makes sense. HOWEVER, DO get proper training from a proper hypnotist. Any questions feel free to ask.

Gabz, there are so many potential questions here. For example although just about any person who wants to can be hypnotized, not every hypnotist will be able to hypnotize that person. Your success will depend upon your training, skill, and your relationship to the person you're trying to hypnotize as well as their willingness to be hypnotized.
I agree with bobser. It's great that you're interested, but like many skills, hypnosis can be effectively and easily learned from an actual hypnotist such as during a workshop or training. |

In a good workshop chances are you will hypnotize someone first time.

First time for me as well, which I attribute to proper learning and training. I was ready and knew what I was doing before even trying it on anyone live.

/Yes I tried it with four people after my stage training I was lucky got two of them. But I also did other courses residential where there were 30 people in the class and I hypnotized just about all of them in five days. And I was also hypnotized by almost all of them. It wasn't for stage though was therapy. The training lasted three consecutive weeks 10 hours a day with sundays off! Was a great experience.
I was lucky though I had the time and the money back then it was expensive. Ive also done other residential NLP/Hypnosis courses that lasted weeks. Not everybody has that opportunity though. But at time I earned the money by doing shows.. |

I got the book on Thursday, did my first show on Saturday, and two went under. So it did work first time. I didn't try one on one hypnosis until last year. Now I get good results with that too. But it wasn't first time success - it took a couple of goes to get the swing of it.

Workshops are flooded with the willing in the first place.
First time, but I didn't try after a weekend either.

Most people have to be willing or very suggestible. I hear hypnotists claim they can hypnotize anybody even against their will but I don't believe it.

You can't hypnostise someone who's not willing!

Most people don't have the faintest idea what hypnosis is or what they're willing to do. In demonstrations I easily get people to give me money and their wallets (I'm ethical and don't keep them), but if you asked these same people beforehand if they were willing to give their intimate possessions and money to a stranger they'd say, "No way!" Computer makers do lots of research to discover what people want. Some of them sell lots of computers but make very little on each computer. Apple doesn't ask people what they want. They build the devices they want. Many pundits, when new Apple products come out, say that nobody wants them. Apple becomes the most valuable company on Earth. People simply don't know what they want or what they are willing to do. |

I think you CAN hypnotise certain people who are NOT willing (I have several friends who will simply 'go' even if they try to fight it) but it is the exception to the rule.

In my experience there is a small percentage of people who can't resist. I have a brother inlaw who is the most suggestible person I have ever known. he has to leave the room if a hypnotist is on or he is up every time even although he doesn't want to be.
Ive seen it happen loads of times doing shows with a small percentage of people. |

First time worked, almost every time has worked to some degree... for every hour I do of hypnosis I have probably read and studied and watched video for 5-10 hours while learning... I always like to read and see new material too as there is something to be learned in everything!

At no time has my wife ever wanted to be hypnotized. We went to see Kreskin and he said he wasn't going to Hypnotize anyone ... Just Suggestion. During the show my wife went on stage. She is as reserved a person as there is. She would NEVER have gone up if she thought she was going to be Hypnotized ... She was TOTALLY UNDER before the show was over and probably the most animated of the bunch.
So this idea that you can't be Hypnotized if you don't want to is very misleading to me. You may say it's just a matter of semantics and you may be right but to me ... she did something she never had a desire to do .... I know that for a fact. Was she tricked? What's the deal here? I know the history of Kreskin and why he says there is no such thing as Hypnotism.
