Or do they simply attempt to re-write history to suit their immediate needs?
One of three Time Magazine articles on the coming Ice Age. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/articl......,00.html In the 1970's the "experts" were warning everyone of the coming ice age. http://www.climatedepot.com/a/3213/Dont-......e-Claims http://www.skepticalscience.com/ice-age-......970s.htm In the 1970's, many "experts" insisted we were headed for an Ice Age. Some of the same who claimed an impending Ice Age switched to being "warmers." Amazing what the value of a grant will do to the outcome of research. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppa......age-1971

Please, no more inconvenient facts.
It's not about the momentum of the cattle but the ability to change that momentum - with energy (money) moved as "corrective actions" are taken "with the best of intentions". So burn that coal to help stave off the ice age. Don't let the hot air bluff you.

Science reevaluates its predictions as more data is gathered. However the idea that the majority of climate scientists in the 1970's were predicting another Ice Age is a myth.
http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn11......70s.html A survey of the scientific literature has found that between 1965 and 1979, 44 scientific papers predicted warming, 20 were neutral and just 7 predicted cooling. So while predictions of cooling got more media attention, the majority of scientists were predicting warming even then

Wep, it's a fact that some sientists were worried about another ice age forty five years ago. So what?

1) There is no such thing as "global" climate or a "planetary" temperature.
2) Even if there was, the existing data are insufficient to measure it, even today. 3) All of the "temperature" data before 1880 or so is inferential, and based on surrogates for actual temperature measurements. 4) The datasets of dubious surrogate measures that were used to produce the famous "hockey stick" were cherry-picked to produce the results desired by the compilers. 5) Unbiased datasets suggest that the present period is not particularly warm, and is cooling. 6) The catastrophic outcomes we have been warned about depend on erroneous mathematical models in which the influence of small changes in CO2 is multiplied by effects on water vapor. 7) Even the warmists admit, that despite increasing CO2 levels, there has been zero climate warming since 2000. |

Which matters not a jot since they never change their plans no matter what.

Wow where have you been for the past 6 years? Everyone is dug in on their point of view and this has been mentioned.
What do all the global climate changeers have in common? I think that might be the place to start an inquiry of any merit.

Let me just add, that as far as recorded history goes, all of the great periods in history of which we have any knowledge, all occurred during relatively warm periods of climate, as far as we can tell.

Of course, ringmaster, and that includes all of recorded history. But within that period of 10 millenia, there have been warmer and colder eras. It turns out that the warmer centuries were the good ones.

In fact, the infamous Black Death that began in 1347 and the 1665 Great Plague of London both resulted from minor temperature rises during an overall period of cooler temperatures.

When we can accurately predict weather, storms, rainy days, hurricanes, tornados, possibly earthquakes, etc then maybe we might be at a point where we truly understand the majority of relevant factors and can move forward with possible policies or other decisions that would protect us. Until then further study, void of legislation or arbitrary bans on this or that, needs to continue (hopefully with as little political bias as possible)!

The Renaissance in general was a period I think I would call "good" in terms of culture and learning. And the idea that episodes of the plague "resulted from minor temperature rises" is naive, misleading, overly simplified, and very far from being demonstrated.
