The edit was not misleading. Hattermann said that "the shelf is neither losing nor gaining mass at the moment" even in the source balducci quoted. Of course, not losing any mass at all does suggest that "significant mass loss in this region that is actually not taking place AS FAST AS PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT" (as quoted by balducci) because "neither losing nor gaining mass" means there is NO LOSS, and of course NO LOSS means that "significant mass loss" is not taking place AS FAST AS PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT because it is not taking place AT ALL.

I think that a comparison of the quote as edited with the full quote as made speaks for itself.

I thought the last two were decent. It's the second one and "Tokyo Drift" where they lost it a bit.

Speaking of water melting and sea levels rising ... in the news this week ...
http://news.bostonherald.com/news/nation......n=recent "Sea levels in a 620-mile “hot spot” along the Atlantic Coast are rising three to four times faster than the global average, according to a new study by the U.S. Geological Survey ... The main cause of recent sea level increases along the coast is the slowing of Atlantic currents caused by the arrival of fresh water from the melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet, the study said ... Sea level rise is a sensitive subject for some political conservatives, who say that global warming is a hoax and that sea levels are not in danger of rising precipitously. The USGS study is significant because it provides data showing that sea levels have risen over the past two decades along the Atlantic Coast, regardless of the cause." It should be noted that this article is talking about the melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet overall. That is, something more than just the Fimbul Ice Shelf mentioned in the previous article / recent posts here, which is only the 6th largest of forty-three ice shelves along Antarctica’s perimeter.

BTW, I spotted my mistake in the post above about Antarctica and Greenland ... not that it changes anything, really. And the clarification about the Fimbul Ice Shelf being just one of forty-three ice shelves along Antarctica’s perimeter was worth making in any case.

Well, balducci, the Fimbul is a big one . . . and let's not dismantle an industrial civilization upon which the lives of tens of millions of people -in the third world- depends, just because of a "perhaps" . . .
