If anyone is interested, I just posted a detailed review after watching it:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=111&0

To sum it up, I absolutely LOVED IT. I'm a big fan of Joshua Jay's presentation and teaching style.

I should have mentioned, that review (above) was for Volume 1 (Thumbtips) in this Astonishment series.

I just watched Volume 2 (Card Forces), and I posted my detailed review here:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=111&0

I give both volumes 10/10!

Thanks for the reviews Jeff. Smile

These DVDs look like an excellent investment. I'll definitely be picking up the first three. (Maybe the fourth as well, but I've never used an ID in my life, prefering pure sleight of hand in my card magic.) Considering the low price for the teaching and routines, this seems like a no-brainer. Especially when you think of the wealth of magic it sounds like they contain, compared with a one-trick-wonder gimmick which could easily cost as much as these four DVDs together!

To Rich & Firestarter - Thanks for the response!

I was very impressed with both of these. The Thumbtip video really opened my eyes to things I never quite thought about doing, like the METAL BENDING routine he teaches on there. Although this DVD was a little shorter than the Card Force DVD, I may have enjoyed it even more! I may never look at a thumbtip the same way again!

And the Card Forces......wow! I learned a couple new ones, and for the ones I already knew about, Joshua shared some insight that made me look at them in a completely different light.

I appreciate your kind words about my reviews. I honestly wouldn't have given it 10/10 unless I really found it useful for both beginners and professionals alike.

I can spill a few beans!

Handpicked Astonishments is not that far away from release now. The dvds have been checked and have every little that need doing to them in the way of edits.

I can confirm that Joshua does indeed do a great job of teaching and the content on each disc is very good.

Volume 1 is the Thumb tip, Vol' 2 Forces, Vol' 3 Loops, Vol 4' Invisible Deck.

All the discs teach you handlings and 5 or 6 routines picked as being some of the best with the given item.

Whether you are a beginner or pro this is one of those sets you will keep as they really do make a great resourse on each subject.

An word on Vol' 3 Loops, Vol 4' Invisible Deck coming out? Josh Jay is very gifted at teaching/breaking things down and routining, that I'd be very interested in what he's come up with for these

Are these download only, or DVD?

I just viewed volume 3 (Invisible Deck).

Great routines on this download.

Invisible Deck was the very first magic effect I ever bought. That was back in 1979, and the cards were Fox Lake. This is the trick that got me hooked on magic.

I am very impressed with the ideas and psychology that are shared on this download.

Worth every cent for me.

Justin - You and me both....although that volume currently got pulled from being released....at least for the immediate time being. I have no idea why, and my mind immediately speculates if Yigal had a problem with it. Total guess on my part. We were all set to release the Loops along with this Invisible Deck video on the same day, but it was pulled at the last minute with no explanation as to why. Hopefully though, that one will be the next one to follow in the release lineup, because I'm stoked to watch it. I think it would be a great companion to your Ring Slide download, which I also highly recommend to anyone interested in a great Loops routine.
