I believe it's going to be a series of DVDs with each DVD devoted to the "best" effects with a particular gimmick (Invisible Deck, Thumbtip, etc.)
I'm really looking forward to it. I love Paul Harris' eye for effects and Joshua Jay's teaching. |

Supposedly other folks are involved as well. Does anyone have the Reel Magic and can speak to the trick presented there?

I picked up the Reel Magic. I've not watched all of Josh's interview, so I don't know if he mentions any additional details about this new project, other than the free trick that's available on the DVD.
The trick presented is an updated take on a salt & pepper effect, where salt & pepper are both dumped into your hand, made to vanish, and then reappear. The trick itself didn't do a lot for me, but the method could be applied to a number of different effects/presentations and is something interesting to ponder. Definitely interested to hear more about what exactly the Handpicked Astonishments project will be before I make a judgement call.

I don't know much about the set. From the little I do know though, it's unblievably exciting.

I kinda wanted to re-bump this thread, does anyone have anymore info on this? Is there an estimated release date? I am very interested in checking out this video series.

I am not one authorized to spill the beans on this GIGANTIC project..but I can tell you it is going to be a MUST have for all magicians. And yes I have some effects in the mix.
I LOVE watching Joshua teach magic, he is a natural. JM |

Joshua is by far one of my favorite magicians of today. Man what I would give to be able to sit and absorb as much information about being a good performer from him and his perspective on magic, show construction and performance style.
Anyway.. Ill def be getting this when it comes out. |

I can spill a few beans!
Handpicked Astonishments is not that far away from release now. The dvds have been checked and have every little that need doing to them in the way of edits. I can confirm that Joshua does indeed do a great job of teaching and the content on each disc is very good. Volume 1 is the Thumb tip, Vol' 2 Forces, Vol' 3 Loops, Vol 4' Invisible Deck. All the discs teach you handlings and 5 or 6 routines picked as being some of the best with the given item. Whether you are a beginner or pro this is one of those sets you will keep as they really do make a great resourse on each subject.

This sounds amazing.
Are there only 4 volumes planned at the moment? I'd love to see a few more - just being greedy |
