I was replying to Al's response on a previous thread, when I thought this might be a good thread topic all in itself.

Do any of you use Facebook Comments as social proof for testimonials?

One challenge I experienced was a prospective client thought anyone could write fake testimonials and "customer comments" on a website.

It reinforced the need for social proof in addition to other forms of customer "proof".

I posted a video on how I add Facebook Comments to the testimonial section of my website.
It isn't difficult to do once you cut and paste the code snippet from Facebook.

This is one way to integrate real world testimonials via social media directly into your site.

Anyone else experiement with this approach?

Love this.... but you should incorporate it so the comment goes to your fanpage and THEIR wall

Once the comment is on your fanpage go and tag them and thank them for the feedback as this will help increase your Edgerank...

BTW I hate edgerank.. If they are my fans I should be able to communicate with them without having to be a facebook junkie.. LOL

If you have a facebook link on your web site to your fan page all of your facebook fan page becomes an automatic compliment to your web site. I don't see the need to do testimonials twice.

If you have to provide "proof" of testimonaials it occurs to me that something might be wrong somewhere else.

It's not about providing proof of testimonials...
it's that 73% of consumers trust peer reviews OVER everything else

a link to your fanpage doesn't do enough you need it integrated for real reach as 96% of people who like a fanpage NEVER go back after the like..

By having your comments integrated to the fanpage and posting (at least daily) you increase the pages "EdgeRank" (Facebooks algorithm on how long a post lives)

Also if you have a LOW interaction and LOW edgerank less and less of the people who have liked you will see your comments and posts.

by integrating each comment into your Fanpage will increase page interaction and your overall edgerank meaning a much higher percent of your FANS will actually SEE YOU..

96% of my fans on a facebook magic fan page are magicians, and don't care about testimonials. Testimonials will only work if you get your local community organizations to become your facebook fan's. You must cultivate local blogs, newsletters, civic, and local businesssmen's associations to become your fans. These are the people who will follow about your career, read your fan page testimonials, and hire you for local work. If all of your fans are magicians your fan page is a total waste of time.

Mike you post has nothing to do with what I said or the original post.

I am saying that if they even consider you have faked a testimonial, your site and materials have failed LONG before ANYTHING you mention even comes into play.

I don't intentionally use Facebook for any sort of testimonials or whatever, but people post comments on my wall all the time about recent shows they were at. I get a bunch of photo uploads and comments from people without ever asking. About the only thing I do on Facebook is post some info related to my public shows, along with a lot of none related lame content just to keep the page fresh.

I think I get a better connection with people on Facebook versus my regular web page. Just a hunch. No proof.
Most of my gig queries for my Vaudeville act come from private messages on Facebook versus regular email.

Al, I agree, if its all entertainers its a waste of time..

Pizpor, yeah I hate that due to edgerank you have to post stuff just to be seen..
but until FB changes the algorithm that's the name of the game (within reason)

Not to be ignorant, but what's 'edgerank' ? I've been posting stuff on Facebook for fun. I wasn't aware of any algorithms.
Thanks for your help with this. Seriously.

I believe we are facebook friends. You can also become one of my facebook fan's and follow my career more closely. If you do a facebook search for "juggler Collegeville" my fan page will come up, and you can hit the like button.

Edgerank is facebooks algorithm that dictates who and for how long one of your posts (personal and or fanpage) will show up in others news feeds..

Example..
If you make a post through your fanpage only 8 or 9 fans might see it on there news feed. IF 2 of them like it 10 more will see it show up. If someone shares it people who are not friends will start to see it.

Basically the more social interaction you have the more people will see your posts (even people who LIKE you page)
the highest I usually get on any given page is 60% of those who have liked the page have seen the post

If you have a lot of local businessmen fans edgaranking doesn't matter, because they get a heads up every time you post on your fan page, and you are already in their face. It is of far more importance to cultivate fans in the local business community than trying to be popular with your friends and family on facebook.

Facebook is the illusion of popularity. It is a "look at me" driven medium. Getting people to move rounding you from that is tough.

You are right most people who post on facebook say things like "I had scrambled eggs for breakfast this morning", but a smart entertainer can create a fan base that will get him work. I spoke to a stage magician from Dallas last week who told me that he gets an average of booking a week from his fan page. I have only booked a few jobs from my fan page, but my fan page is still a work in progress.

Problem with social media is the constant change. Even Facebook is losing steam.

One a week may be a lot I have no idea.

Social media is a "me" application. It is hard to get around that.

The man who told me that he is booking a job a week is Dal Sanders, and if you go to the buskers Café you can listen to his podcast where he talks about how he uses social media to promote his business.

I was kinda thinking that the people who spent big bucks for marketing courses would cash in on this free marketing opportunity, but It seems that I am only talking to you.
