Well, Deck TR can be programmed to do anything really. You have to time your movements to match the movements you programmed.
For me, I like spontaneous floating, and the small size of SPP. Deck TR is an awesome tool. Just not what I want. That is why I sold mine. James

Gotcha... yeah, you have to find what works for you and your style.
Sounds like the DeckTR would be great for more "controllable" situations. Good to know.

Sean's website states it has 3 operational modes including "ITR" mode. Sounds like it will has multiple capabilities. I have mine on order. Can't wait to get it!

I also like Aviator backs.
I would assume these come standard in Aviator. DD |

And can I hand the deck out for examination at the end?
BTW... this looks great Sean. As soon as I'm done trolling I'm ordering one DD |

I see that SPP is cool for impromptu situations while the deck TR requires a different approach and context to be performed. I mean you need a valid reason to pull out a deck of cards and starting levitating things. I saw in the video the the deck is always in full view so I don't know if you can hide it in a pocket or not. Btw I'm far away to be a thread expert but I'm not afraid to spend even 6 months and break miles of thread to practice and learn how it exactly works. I do the same with all kind of magic stuff and for me the learning challenge is even more funny than performing |

Maybe its me, I don't wanna criticize other people habits, but I like to buy one good hand-made prop instead of 3-4 cheap-commercial things (i'm not referring to SPP).
For the same reason I like to buy 1 freaking expensive Lassen gaff instead of 3-4 cheaper gaffs. When I buy some hand-made prop from the right person I like the fact that you can deal personally with the creator and in my little experience I always had GREAT support from these kind of people. BTW I never bought something from Sean Bogunia but I've such a strong feeling that he's that kind of guy... I'll tell you soon |

Hi Brillus,
I had the first gen of the Deck TR. This is the new one so it probably addresses all those issues I stated. Darn it, now I have to buy a Deck TR! James Quote: On 2012-08-06 17:28, Brillus wrote:

I ordered mine about a week ago. I've got most of Sean's stuff, (Lamp/Zombie, Dancing Hank, Animation Sensation, Manual Sketchpad, etc) so I'm hoping this lives up to his reputation. I'm pretty sure I'll be raving about this as literally everything I've bought from Sean has been incredible.

I should also add that I have no financial stake in my praise of Sean's stuff. I'm just a customer and buy everything from him at the retail prices.

Looks amazing. Expensive, but I can't imagine how you could make something like this for much less.

You can get all of the details on Sean's website, it seems pretty complete:
http://seanbogunia.com/decktr.html I received mine today and watched about 30 minutes of the dvd. This is pretty awesome. Unfortunately I have so much to do this weekend that I am not sure how much time I will have to work with the unit. I do want to finish the dvd prior to running the unit. To answer some of Magigboy!'s questions: how invisible the thread is? Sean covers the conditions for the different thread types including which is best for indoor, fluorescent light, direct sunlight, etc. No different than any other IT routine. How strong the thread is? The thread supplied is very strong. He mentions that the Vectra line and Kevlar are best (also mentioned on the website). If it breaks it will take no longer than 30 seconds to get it reset. Sean really thought this one through. Can you put your own thread on. Yes. It does not come threaded. You can choose the type of thread to use. He gives you 2 empty spools so you can have 2 different types of threads available, you only have to change out the spool. It is VERY easy to do. Can you use this in close up? Yes he talks about using this for table hoppers. Can you put the deck tr in your jacket pocket or in a holder on your waist band? Yes, there are even other options that make this a versatile unit. He actually shows it set up in a pocket. I own a few of Sean's products and this is one of his best. I am glad I bought mine while he was still offering the discount. You will not be disappointed in this. I believe it has more options than SPP. Well worth the money! Jim |

30 seconds? From the tiime you get out your thread, tack it to the wall, strip it out attach it to the Deck TR start the motor. You are really fast!

Xiqual,
You must be referring to the original set up with stripping out the thread. It depends on what thread you are using. You get a 200 ft spool already stripped. On the original setup you put on as much thread as you want. If the thread breaks you just reattach to thread already on the spool. You need to see how it works, very simple. Unless of course you have pulled all of the thread off the spool then break it. Do you own a deck tr? It is pretty sweet. I have one of the original spider pens. It was ok but I never really spent the time to perfect it. I have spoken with Sean a couple of times over the past 2 years about what I was looking to do. I have routine in mind and he told me to wait for this one. This unit will fit my needs better than SPP. Just a personal choice. Best. Jim |
