Talking about shows, not just about magicians, which magic show was your best? Tell us about that show that you've seen and you said, "Waooo." What made that show so special?

There are so many! Here, in no particular order, are my all-time favorites. Most Spectacular: The opening of Siegfried and Roy at The Mirage in Las Vegas. For sheer spectacle, if not breathtaking magic, this remains the most impressive show I've ever seen. Best Smaller Production: Lance Burton. I liked him especially when he was at the Hacienda in Las Vegas. The theatre was small enough for some beautiful dove work and sleights mixed in with illusions. And his production of his six beautiful assistants from a suitcase was lots of fun to watch. He didn't speak much (if at all), just went beautifully from one effect to the next. Most Nerve-Wracking: Penn and Teller, hands down. Bullet-catch, bear-trap...they work hard to stage effects unlike anything you'll see anybody else do. And their stage personas are perfectly suited to their shows. Now at the Rio in Las Vegas. Best All-Around: David Copperfield, hands down. Original effects, brilliantly staged and presented. Probably the most "WOW" effects in magic history. Best Intimate Act: The Magic Castle in Los Angeles. You never know who you'll see there, but I've seen some of the best card and coin at IT work I've ever seen, at the MC. |

I think Lance Burton, Rick Thomas and Mac King have GREAT shows! I love seeing all of these guys.
My FAVORITE though is David Copperfield. I've seen him about 9 times live over the last 4 years. My absolute favorite show of his was about 2 years ago in Alabama. It was his "Unknown Dimensions" tour, and it was great! David was in a great mood and seemed to really have fun. Every illusion was perfect, including One, Laser, Test Conditions, Squeeze Box, Panty Swap, Uncle Morty and Aunt Ida, Tides, Voyeur, Portal, 13, etc... He was on the top of his game and the illusion line up was perfect. Great! I did see him a few months ago in Vegas. Front Row Seats. Awesome Show. All brand new illusions. His new car appearance is definately one of my favorite tricks now. You can't go wrong seeing his show.

I've seen David Copperfield live three times, the last being last month. I was blown away by each show, he is definitely at the top of the heap. I hope to get to Vegas in the near future to take in as much magic as I can pack into one vacation.
However, the show that meant the most happened when I was about 10 years old. I was at summer camp for the first time and one of the programs at this camp was magic. One of the counselors, a guy named Roger Moss, was a magician and he taught the program. He also opened each new session of camp with a magic show. It was the first time I had ever seen a live magic show and I remember to this day thinking that it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I was hooked from then on, I took the program that year and for a bunch of consecutive years after that. My last year there I was a counselor and helping to run the program Hopefully I will be lucky enough to see some more big names perform live, but the show that effected me the most will always be the one I saw at a small summer camp in Connecticut more years ago than I care to admit. |

I haven't seen too many shows but I've seen Copperfield twice, once when I was nine and again when I turned 21 (just last year) and I was just as awe struck as I was when I was nine. And I had the chance to see Criss Angel's mindfreak in New York and that was simply amazing to watch, I can't wait till he goes on tour it's definitely a show not to miss.

The best show I ever saw was Criss Angel's Supernatural. He made me touch the screen and without saying anything, made and electrical shock run up and down my spine. He did a whole load of other things but that was the best.

The most influential one featured Felix Snipes during a youth crusade about 25 years back. I was one of the audience chosen for his key bending bit. I had never experienced anything like it, so when I opened my hand with this bent key that was my own I was floored. It was really the show that piqued my interest in magic enough to actually start some stuff of my own.
Otherwise, DC is absoulutely the most entertaining I have ever seen, huge "WOW" factor. Harp |

From when I was young, I always loved David Copperfield. His presentation and emotional hooks are just amazing. In Fort Collins, CO, they held the Magic in the Rockies Convention the past few years. During the convention, there is also a public show held at a local theater center. These public shows were some of the best I've seen. This past September, they had Apollo Robbins, Richard Osterlind, Shoot Ogawa, David Ben, Bob Sheets, David Williamson, Joe Givens and Carol Massie, and Jon Stetson MCing...it doesn't get much better than that!
