I have a vague recollection of a post that I would like to find again. I've searched and browsed quite a while for it with no luck.

It may have been in response to a "what do you say when they ask 'how'd you do that?'" question and contained a quote from, I belive, Mark Twain.

I also think it was about how he created stories: start with the ending you want and work your way back to the beginning.

Anyone remember this?

Don't know what thread that was, but here's a quote that seems fairly close:

The time to begin writing an article is when you have finished it to your satisfaction. By that time you begin to clearly and logically perceive what it is that you really want to say.
- Mark Twain's Notebook, 1902-1903
The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.
