Very glad to help you with that, tommy. I'm not sure it's common knowledge.

Here's one of my pigeon friends. Broken lower beak. Not sure what happened there, but seems to be managing quite alright. |

That's a fantastic zoom and steady tripod on those last two, Laurie.

The photo above, of the late Mr. Ralph Waite, just to clarify, is obviously not one I took. I saw it online last night on Eric Scott's facebook page and brought it here. Ralph died February 13 at age 85. I want to pay tribute to him here and found a beautiful clip of him speaking that is really the epitomy of the sentiment of this thread. Thankyou, Ralph, with love.

Yes. I think you chose the right candidate for a PR position.

One of my new friends. I've been considering putting together a book or two, one of them- the concept would be X marks the spot: Nature's Treasure Map. Amazing how many Xs I see in photos now after I've taken them. Hard to see at the time, sometimes. The lovely doe in the photo above's a little out of focus, but she's so beautiful, and gracious- lets me spend time around taking pics of her and (I suspect) her yearling doe, too. That winter coat's coming off. Maybe some new little ones on the way, although I haven't stumbled over any that I'm aware of, yet. |

I love all your photos Laurie - keep em coming!
While I naturally love the wildlife shots I especially liked the side by side of you and John Denver. Very cool! |

Thankyou very much, Chrystal. The Denver shot was for a contest the facebook page (run by his estate) had to recreate a John Denver photo. I thought it was an interesting idea and took up the challenge since John's been a great inspiration and influence to me. My sister took the pic and we won! Interesting bit and I don't know if the photo I ended up using was the one in which this happened, but I felt like I wasn't quite getting the essence of the captured motion down until, on one take, I lost my balance a little and Tracey said she caught that. Not sure if that's the pic I went with, but after that I was like "that's it!" We shot the photo on my Dad's property up near the woods where I used to hang out a fair bit as a kid. Walking back to my Dad's place and the car, I told Tracey that was John giving me a little nudge, "Like this, Laurie" to help me get it. And we won! Thanks, John. Far out. Hey, could be it happened exactly like that, who's to say otherwise, huh?

I like the Denver shot too Laurie. I'm old enough to remember John Denver and his beginnings. I was twenty-three at Rocky Mountain High and those years were very special to me. That's when I met and ultimately married my wife of, going on, forty-three years. Thanks for the memories and the great shot and congrats for winning the contest!
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |
