Can anyone help with the question: "Where can I buy Bigger Wands?" There are some on Ebay - however they do not ship to Australia. Anyone?

The only way to get these now, is to contact someone who either is selling them second-hand, or has bought a "portion" of Creative Magic's stock, and can supply a brand-new set (like me). Unfortuantely, although I'd be happy to sell many of the CM items now filling up my workshop, Bigger Wands are not among them. I will keep these for myself. I do have a "Biggest Wand" that I'd be prepared to sell, as I have more of these than I can ever use. You could quite easily have a regular set of "Bigger Wands" made up yourself.

Well Potty (weird say that)..Thank you for your generous offer to sell the Biggest Wand, however I would like the set. How could I have a set made?

.....I don't think it's rocket-science. You need a set of wands, very small, bigger, bigger, etc. To be honest, the CM set never really satisfied me fully, as the fabric can get very dirty. If you do have a set made, I'd recommend using a fabric with a high-sheen, which will be easier to clean; or simply have them made of another material (plastic?)

Actually, my set got dirty and I just made a brand new set that is 100 percent identical to the original you can't even tell the difference infact I can't even tell the difference. It was so easy to make too!
It cost me $20 to make and I have the EXACT same material as the original. I the cloth at Hobby Lobby, Dollar store for the noodles and Home Depot for the pipe foam insulation for the smaller wands. There is not even 1 thing that's not exactly the same. Its a 100 percent perfect match for only $20.00 the profit they made on these are crazy to think they sold it for hundreds of dollars. I had extra foam so I even made another set but used candy cane looking fabric to make a christmas candy cane set. Again looks perfect. I am NOT selling these so don't get all upset. The company is gone and I had no other option. Cube Squared and many of the other products are just "collapsible nylon mesh baskets." (Google my quoted words and you will find tons of options) You can get custom made nylon mesh collapsible boxes at several places. Some even offer all kinds of sizes, colors and there are even places that let you customize logos and things on them. They cost as low as $1 each to large custom designs for $5-$10 each http://sell.lulusoso.com/selling-leads/1......per.html not bad when you think the Cube cost over $500 retail!! |

Kevinr,
Can you show us some Photos of the Props that you made? This sounds really good and I sure would like to see how they turned out. I am sure others as well would especially like to see the Christmas ones. Rodney

Here's a thread about the subject that Kevin just raised:
Magic Café thread titled... Is it okay to make your own? (From the "Right or Wrong?" area.) - Donald P.S. I have seen ALL of the Creative Magic Products come up for sale used, or show up when people ask about them in the Buy and Sell area. So, they are out there. Now, some people don't want to pay the price the seller is asking... but that's a different matter.

Keep in mind I am NOT selling these and they are not just up for sale everywhere you go. Beside the candy cane ones are not available anywhere. I made those myself. What did you want me to do go buy the noodles and foam pipe insulation then give creative magic money in the mail for my purchase at Home Depot?? I will give you one more example. Creative Magic sold "The Arabian Tent" for $695.00. (holy crap) keep in mind I have see the plans for this in my Mark Wilson kids book for 25 years. I never seen one up for sale not even once ever. Here is a link from the Creative Magic website for $695 (not including shipping etc) http://www.creativemagic.net/stage/framework.htm I contacted someone who makes "collapsible nylon mesh boxes" and gave them some art work and had mine made for $40. That's not even 10 percent of the retail price!! I had it made the exact same way. Again not selling this its for myself and can't be bought anywhere else so had no other option. Even if it was sold (which it's not) Someone would probably try to charge HIGHER than the creative magic price of $695 and attempt to get $800 for a prop that has been around for decades that no one owns the rights to and I can make an exact replica for $40 or less. Again for myself and nowhere else to buy it. |

If you make framework poles and put fabric over them, then you are making Creative Magic's version of Arabian Tent. If you build it from cardboard, wood, etc., then you are making the original version.
If you make 5 various length foam noodles, and put fabric over them, and are doing a routine about various "bigger wands", then you are doing Creative Magic's trick. People did not come up with the idea "on their own" with those types of props, until after hearing about / seeing Creative Magic's version. If you are making pop up hampers into stacking cubes, and using them as a square circle, it's pretty clear that your "inspiration" came from Creative Magic's Cube Squared. If built out of cardboard or wood, then it's your own take on the classic Square Circle. BTW, if a person owned an authentic set of Bigger Wands, then made another set for their own use as well (like the Candy Cane covers), many would have no problem with that. The royalties / credit has been paid to / given to the originator, because of the original purchase. - Donald P.S. If you know where to ask, and are willing to be patient, you can find the CM products at a reasonable fee... close to the original retail. You've made it pretty clear by some of your comments that you felt that even paying original retail wasn't something you had to do. I have seen someone put out a request to purchase Arabian Framework, and get a reply. Keep in mind I watch the buy and sell of magic products in several different places, not just The Magic Café. Just this morning, I saw about 5 different Creative Magic items for sale here on the Café, including Bigger Wands and Cube Squared.

I waited, and actually lost interest in owning bigger wands. I was at a fairly local (45 minute drive) magic shop and he had them for only the ORIGINAL MSRP. I jumped on it and will be getting Biggest Wand too.

I own bigger wands and paid full price for it. Mine got old and use. So I made a new set since they don't make them any longer.
I see nothing wrong with that. NO I don't think Creative magic owns the rights to any old magic trick made from fabric. If that was the case we would have only one maker of wood illusions. Again I own this and made me a new set that's identical for $20 I paid full boat once to Creative Magic and they are out of business. Yes I also made an Arabian Tent. Yes it's made out of the same white and black mesh fabric that Creative Magic made they are out of business. Again, I check all the time and never once seen a Arabian Tent by Creative Magic for sale. If the company that makes this product was owned by Creative Magic I would have gladly paid them but again they no longer make anything so I had it made and cost me $40.00 Is it a crime that I saved $650.00 for the identical product that is no longer being made? I don't think so. Its a very old illusion and they don't own the right to the nylon mesh sold at thousands of places and they don't own the rights to the illusion. Is exactly the same and not available anywhere else. Again I am NOT selling the product nor am I offer pictures or anything. They are out of business so I had one made for my own use. |

Kevin I'm with you. Don't argue with these "do gooders". There's absolutely nothing wrong with making an Arabian Tent out of WHATEVER material YOU want too. Don't waste your time trying to prove your point and get dragged down in a pointless argument. Some of these people that lecture and preach here are the first to break their own "rules".
Also thanks for the for the links and search text you provided. John |

Kevin -
My position is more along the lines of what Murray Hatfield voiced on this thread. Some authentic props are expensive, because you have to "earn" the right to buy them and perform them. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. - Donald

I would list some of my original CM items from my portion here on the big green page, but can't, as I don't have 50 'legitimate' contributing posts yet. There are many other portion holders selling CM items on various other sites (auction sites and facebook sites) where magic is traded. Those same sellers would probably list here also, were it not for the '50 post' rule to access the buy/sell area.
And by the way, I've sold 2 Bigger Wand sets within the last 30 days on one of those sites. |

So what I'm saying, is that Magic Café members are NOT necessarily being protected by the 50 post rule, in fact they are LOSING OUT on wanted items because of the rule.
Is this a legitimate post? |
