I was told this would be available later this year, probably August?
Ok, first here is the effect description from the ad blurb: Handling one A card inside an envelope is placed on the table next to a deck of cards. The spectator asks for any number from 1 to 52. The deck is removed from the card case. The cards are dealt face up one at a time until you reach their selected number. The card is removed from the envelope it matches the card at their number. Handling two It gets no cleaner than this. A playing card is laid face down on a spectators hand. (no envelope) The spectator names any number from 1 to 52. The deck is removed from the card case. You deal the cards face up one at a time, finally arriving at the chosen number. Its hard to believe, they turn the card over in their hand. I think you have guessed the rest. ===================== Product Overview Instant reset. Only one deck. No memory work. No multiple numbers to learn etc. Always deal the deck the same way. Only one envelope. Only one card in version two. No switch of any kind. No adding jokers. Learn and perform this miracle in 10 minutes. ===================== Product Details This is to the usual high standard of JB quality. DVD production value and detail of content is top-notch as always, everything taught by Mark Mason, in his usual detail. Effect contains several different types of gaffs, but the method is ingenious. You add your own deck to which you add some things. For one of the gaffs, there is literally about one minute of arts and crafts involved, no big deal. I really like this effect..I've done it for a few people and they loved it. PROs: Fast Reset Easy to learn No sleights required No Rough and Smooth CONs: Another deck to carry around, so if you have pocket space issues, it may be a problem for you. Deck and prediction card cannot be handed out, but not really an issue. Handling two is a bit cleaner, they hold the prediction card. http://www.jbtvusa.com/ |

I have seen it in Blackpool performed by Mark and there is a reason why he sold out after two days. It really is a great effect. It fries laymen and magicians are shocked by the ingenious method - so we will all have fun with this .-)

I agree that Kincaid did an excellent review on this great new trick by Mark but he did leave out on small item and that is, it does require "minimal" math skills. This should be no problem with anyone who can add or subtract basic math. That's all I'll say without giving too much away.

Just received this having ordered it at FISM. I love it but am undecided which of the two handlings is stronger. Mark seems to suggest the second handling. Anyone tried both and have any views? I don't want to tip the difference between the two versions but the second handling could seem a bit illogical half the time given that the spectator's card comes from a different deck. The first handling seems more direct to me. Of course there is a third possible handling to get round this illogicality, though it is perhaps slightly more risky. I thought Mark demonstrated this third handling at FISM but it is not on the DVD.

I bought this at FISM in Blackpool and must say that IMHO the first handling is stronger and more direct than the second but you do not end up clean. Another issue, is that if the choice is a high number you must be careful with the "gimmick" inadvertently dislodging from the box and therefore lousing the effect.

People who have already bought X-Act should also be aware that there is an error in the set-up explanation on the DVD which means that the effect will not work as described for numbers above 48 (Mark tells me he has just refilmed it to correct the error). To fix things, move card 50 to 51 in the set-up and use 51 as the upper reference point for the calculation. Mike |

Now that the DVD has been corrected, and with proper handling of the deck, there are no problems with X-Act. It's a great effect - very strong and clean. It plays just as the ad blurb says.
A lot of work goes into making the gimmicks which also makes it very good value for money. Mike |
