The effect I would like to perform in space would be standing and walking normally while everyone else on the ship levitates.

I would kill my granny to get into space (She died when I was three, so she is safe). For many years I kept the rejection letter I got from NASA when I approached them about astronaut training. Apparently a physics degree was not the ticket in the eighties.
I hope that in the next twenty years commercial flights into orbit at least will be available, and I will get on one before I shuffle off.

I'd go anywhere as long as Mcdonalds don't make it there before me.

I'd love to get pics on the moon but not thrilled about the long trip there so I'm just going to go to that warehouse where they faked the Apollo landings and take some pics there.

I think it'd be awesome to fall into a black hole. It wouldn't even be uncomfortable, if the black hole were large enough. For example, it would take something like three years to meet your ultimate doom once fell into a black hole the size of our solar system. And by the time you started feeling any significant crunching or stretching, you'd hit the singularity before the nerve signals could travel to your brain -- at least if you were going in feet-first.

I'd crap myself in the rocket ride. Rollercoasters are bad enough.
Having said that, I'd "do it for the lads" on my deathbed. It seems like a fine compromise; I would be happy to see any part of space "in the flesh." It's a gorgeous looking place. Lest we forget, cameras never quite do anything perfect justice. Zac

I would go in a nanosecond. Where would I go? I reread The Lord of the Rings every two years. Reading The Two Towers right now and Peregrin Took (Pippin) and Gandalf are speeding toward Gondor. Pippin says that he wants to know the name of every star.
![]() I love that notion and would love to visit them all and learn their names. For me there is and always will be magic in a starry sky. I want to be so close to the dust lanes in the Great Nebula in Orion that I could almost touch them; to be in that place where stars ignite would be miraculous. But always in my memory during this endless voyage would be this precious planet I call home. |
