Did a new preschool this past week. So I'm pitching the owner my halloween show and my winter show. She's into the winter show but she says they do their own thing for Halloween--BUT she wants to know if I do a Thanksgiving show.
I pretty unsure if it would be worth it to make another themed show. Does anyone have an experience with this theme? Is there much of a market for it? Thanks. JIm

Personally I have never been asked about a Thanksgiving show before. You could focus on fall colors and even convert some props to use photos of Pilgrams and Turkeys. Multipurpose what you already have.

Great question Jim. November is always my slowest month and I've always thought about putting together some kind of show with a story line about thanksgiving. I myself, dread the thought of putting together another themed show as it is so much work and thought that must go into it to make it good. Anyone else with thoughts?

About the only thing we do at our daycare for Thanksgiving is have a feast (party) the Wednesday before Thanksgiving day.
Of course we talk about Pilgrams, Indians, and color turkeys all during the month of November. But Thanksgiving is a very short holiday. Halloween being the last day of October it takes about a week into November to just get over that holiday. So there's only a couple of weeks left before Thanksgiving. Much of November is used for planning the Christmas season, and it begins the day after the Thanksgiving closing. Just not a lot of time like the other holidays. Tom

Yeah, I was thinking if there's not much of a market in other preschools for a thanksgiving show then I'm certainly not going to do it just for that one school. I can't remember any other PS asking for this. I might ask a few of my other preschools what they think of the idea and report back.
Jim PS: Tommy, so glad to hear the shoot went so well. What could you expect with you at the front of the room?

At one time I had a dozen themed shows for pre-schools. I had a Fall/Thanksgiving theme show. There's lots to talk about. Fall colors, football, etc. Main routine was a turkey hunting story. I put a turkey hat one one kid and a pilgrim hat on another. Did shtick with bow & arrow, letting the pilgrim try and shoot the turkey. lots of running around an laughter. In the end the kids would vote overwhelmingly to NOT kill the turkey. Great fun!

I've never had a request for a 'Thanksgiving' themed show. Although if requested it wouldn't be too hard to come up with something. I wouldn't specifically market one though.

It would be easy to print out jumbo cards with trees and a turkey for performing a Four Card Monte effect (as in The Wizards' Journal #17) or make a more elaborate version in the form of the Three Little Pigs, but with Three Little Turkeys and a Big Bad Wolf (Wizards' Journal #16).
The Cornucopia described in Wizards' Journal #6 is really an elaborate stage illusion, rather than a trick for a pre-school show audience, but you can easily get wicker cornucopiae(??) in arts and crafts stores, and let one fill up with realistic spring flowers and spring veggies as described in Flower Power (Wizards' Journal # 14) and The Flowers That Bloom With a Spring (Wizards' Journal #21).
