I'm looking to invest in one of these and wondered if my esteemed colleagues might weigh in on my simple question:
Is this the same effect just different graphics? Thanks in advance! |

I have a Joker Tube, feels and acts just like the Strat O Sphere, not sure which is the original.

I own a strat-o-sphere but stopped using it because as soon as I set it up half the kids at the show shouted that they had seen the trick before.

It also could be many kids have seen them "done badly". I have done more kid shows than almost any other kind of show. And at every show the kids say "I know that one" to at least one trick. I pause and then I start to put the trick away and the kids start saying "No we like it". Kids don't really care if they have seen a trick before if they like the performer - as long as they are having fun.

That is so true.if a trick is presented in a different
or comical way they will like it no matter how many times they have seen it. todd |

Thanks Christopher!
I agree not many kids have seen it.. there are less than 80 of them world wide.. and at LEAST two are in Singapore!! It's a little more expensive than the Strat-o-Sphere... but it carries the possibility of a new and exciting and logaical routine, for halloween or not.. it makes a great base for a bullying routine or a routine where a kid or monster can't quite get himself together..How many people tell their kids/friend that they'd lose their head if it wasn't attached... This is a fun way to tell that story until the end.. when all is right with the world. This one is 16 inches tall, so it's bigger than the Strat-o-Sphere.. but it doesn't have the box.. so it actually packs smaller.. and it's colorful.. and hand painted! http://wackomagic.com/wackomagic/Mismade_monster.html Kids LOVE monsters..not just at halloween! |

I have the badly made sponge birthday cake that I use with a double load pan; on occasion a kid will tell me it looks fake.
I just ordered the Wack-O-Magic’s more realistic and funny looking rubber birthday cake and I can now be sure no kids will say that he has seen it before. I am very excited about using it in my next show |

I'm wanting to use a new routine with my joker tube. I want to use clown glasses as a gag that it helps with my colorblindness.

Nothing's stopping me. I should have said that I will be performing a new routine with my joker tube. Sorry Howie.

I have used both the original Strat-O-Sphere and the Joker tube. The Start is better made without doubt but the pricing difference is significant. I now work with a Joker tube, admittedly I did need to make a few modifications (blue tack on the base to nest the tube correctly) but the effect is the same and it has worked faithfully for the last year without giving hassles. The gimmick on the Joker tube is slightly higher than the strat and I found I needed to bend mine down slightly to keep the ball from peeking over the top of the tube. If I was buying again, I would go Joker tube.

Jason;
Every time I perform a new trick for the first time in front of a live audience I'm always nervous about it; it always goes well, but I can’t shake the nervousness. |

Ya get what ya pay for, eh? I also made a custom printed wrap for the tube to go along with the story of the routine. The joker face just didn't fit in. |

Here is an imaginative, quality, fun, and logical take on the Stratospheres. They’ve been a best seller and used by some top kids magi…

Thanks for all your feedback! I went ahead and purchased a used (though mint condition) Strat-O-Spheres and just love it! Well made, solid construction, good finish. So often we buy a new trick only to be disappointed once we get it (or maybe that's just me! LOL). This one? Pleased beyond explanation as soon as I took it out of the box! I even like the Joker box!
Can't wait to get it into my act! |
