Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo has just replaced Citizen Kane as the Greatest Film of All Time in the BFI's poll, held once every ten years.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19078948 I can't disagree with that! I just hope nobody tries to remake it as happened with Rear Window (another of my all-time top five). Mike |

They're all wrong, it's Bride of Frankenstein.

Just proves the BFI never saw "Blazing Saddles"!

Blazing Saddles doesn't hold a candle to Son of Frankenstein. And if it does, it should put... ze candle... back!

Interesting that none of the top ten in the poll is post 1968, and three are pre 1930.
My personal desert island top 10: 1. Vertigo (1958) 2. Rear Window (1954) 3. Casablanca (1942) 4. North by Northwest (1959) 5. Some Like it Hot (1959) 6. Life of Brian (1979) 7. Mulholland Drive (2001) 8. The Exorcist (1973) 9. Pulp Fiction (1994) 10. Amelie (2001) |

I thought "Vertigo" was great, but its not in my personal top 10.
Oddly enough, or a movie buff such as myself, I have never seen "Some Like It Hot". Going to have to sit down sometime and get that one watched!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Two of my all time personal favorites are "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Good Fellas."
"Some Like it Hot" also is right up there in my book. |

For me, the all-time greatest single film is Les enfants du Paradis.

Not all of my favorites are necessarily important. I do think that Bride of Frankenstein is important, and it is my favorite, tied with the original Conan.
If I actually had to select one movie for posterity it would probably be The Seven Samurai.

"Some Like It Hot" was filmed on Coronado Island at The Del Hotel here in San Diego.
There are various bits of memorabilia inside the hotel on display. I love that film as well. It's so nice having dinner there and wonder about all of the fun they must've had whilst filming the project. |

Some of their self-produced stuff is good, but certainly outside the genre, and they also get way too much airplay. But, the low point was when they started plugging in reruns of things like CSI Miami. Give me a break. Maybe we should mount a campaign to get them to see the light. Heck, even Coca-Cola admitted their epic fail.

I agree. And for a station that is supposed to be celebrating great films I wish they would let the credits run at the end of the pictures, rather than compress and speed them up while advertising what else they'll be airing. I know there are a lot of film buffs like myself, who actually want to see the credits.
