The following are the words of Ed Solomon. His account of a recent stroke he suffered.
Heknows full well that he has dodged a bullet. At present he is home again, recuperating under the watchful eye of his wife Dee. send cards, emails of\r call if you have a chance to wish him well. Monday started out pretty much as usual until about noon. Put my head down to rest after lunch. The phone rang and I got up to answer and my right leg wouldn't work. I was at the computer and couldn't make the mouse respond and felt top heavy. Having had a couple of strokes. To add to my resume, I knew what was happening. Dee came in from school and we called 911 and got the ball rolling. Emergency room was waiting for us when we got there. CAT scan and echo of the carotid arteries were next and a consult with the neurologist I had before, determined that TPA was appropriate. Heavy duty clot buster that has many scary side effects. Has to be administered with in a specific time frame for it to be effective. It was and did its job, but had to be transferred to the stroke center in the big medical complex. Intensive care for three days with additional CAT scans and constant monitoring. Apparently the caught it in time and as of right now, no lingering problems. A change of medications and further monitoring and the sent me home. I'll have some home care for a while until I get my strength back and some PT rather than going to rehab. I'm weary and my continued Visual weakness will keep me subdued for a while. Three times now I have dodged the bullet and not wanting to push the issue, I'm not asking why. I'll just take one day at a time and try to make the most of each. I'm grateful for each and every one. Nursing care was excellent but four days flat on my back, took a lot out of me. I'm home now and will be doing recoup and laying low. Ed aka De Nomolos |

Just heard from Ed--
and although among his tests he thought they might include an autopsy, he is feeling 100 times better, and has recovered what facilities he lost in the stroke, and is quite optimistic. God bless the guy! Magically, Walt |

I have spent the last 2 days sitting with Ed Fowler in the hospital. He is doing much better. He was having chest pains and they ended up calling 911 and he was carted off to the hospital. When I got word from Ed's wife I was just leaving work and went straight away to the hospital, where I found him in an ER Bed waiting to be admitted. We are still waiting to hear where things stand, but this will be after he has a stress test in the morning.
He has been keeping the nursing staff in giggles for the last 2 days, and is in good spirits, but would rather be home than in a hospital bed. I'll be going to check on him after work tomorrow, and will pass on word then. Cheers Frank |

Thanks Ron
got it. Posted: Aug 6, 2012 9:37am Ed Fowler sends his greetings to all of you, and thanks you for your concern. Cheers Frank Posted: Aug 6, 2012 9:25pm Ed Fowler is home and doing great. Not a cardiac problem.... most likely it's gastric. Thinking it may be a new supplement the docs had suggested.... major side-effects are gas and bloating. He is going to try laying of it to see if there is a change. Cheers Frank |

I never had the chance to meet or correspond with Ed, but I sure have enjoyed his ideas and thinking in past years through his writing. Glad to hear he is doing well.
