Jonny, all of the previous suggestions are good ones. Your birthday is coming up—do yourself a favor and break the mold. Find someone in your area who is performing the kind of magic you like, and who "astounds their audiences", and ask them if they will help you create the same kind of magic that will "astound" your audiences.

What I'm trying to say is, find a mentor you can relate to and respect. It is very easy and almost impossible to resist the urge to buy and accumulate more and more new tricks. Resist the urge. Take the few things that you know and work on them further with someone who can help you make them even more astounding than you think they are right now. This will benefit you so much more in the long run. In addition, a mentor will help guide you in your purchases, so that you don't get that inevitable drawer of tricks (that go unused) that most of us end up with. Maybe you'll just need a smaller drawer.

In the alternative, find someone who is involved in their magic at the same level as yourself. Get together and encourage each other to create the best presentations you possibly can. Push each other to learn what it means to create powerful magic that you will perform for others only when it is truly ready for public consumption.

Best of luck!
Everything you do -- everything -- has your signature on it. Regardless of whether you intend it that way or not. And that's how people perceive you.-George Ledo
