Can anybody tell me how to make a Vent Dummy head? I saw plans in a book somewhere a long time ago(20years or so), but have been unable to find any in recent history. Anybody have expertise in this field? I'd love to make one, but they are actually pretty complex to try to figure out, cold.

I have the book and the dummy head from puppets and props and I will say that it is the most exhaustive book I've seen on the subject. This is definitely the way to go!

Yes, Mike Brose's book, from puppets and props is the best book on figure making.
Another good website is Al Stevens's website : http://www.alstevens.com/ventriloquism/figuremaking.html Or if you like you can joint ventfigures@yahoogroups mailinglist, which dedicate to ventfigure makers proffesional and amateur. Mike Brose and Al Stevens are member of this groups, so do I. Regards, Budi Ha Ha |

Looked at the site, and it looks good, I'll have to save my pennies. Thanks for the great site. ventman Have you seen many books on this, because I was having problems finding any. Thanks for the quick review . Budihaha Thanks, I will go to these sites as soon as I get thru here. Steve Budihaha I clicked on your first website suggestion: "Another good website is Al Stevens's website : http://www.alstevens.com/ventriloquism/figuremaking.html " and I ended up at: Welcome to Midifitz.com I am sure that everybody but me probably knows how to navigate to the "Al Stevens" section of this site, but I don't have a clue. If you can, could you give a Techno-Peasant a few pointers on what I did wrong, or what I need to do to navigate to the proper end point? Thanks Steve |

Sorry Steve, you right that link don't work.
Please try this link http://www.alstevens.com/ventriloquism/index.html It is about how to make ventfigure from scratch and rebuilding vent figures. BTW Al Stevens have another nice website about completing Mike Brose's kit at http://www.alstevens.com/ventriloquism/fred.html Regards, Budi Ha Ha |

Sorry about the length of time it took to answer, I was having problems with my server, and was down for a while. Thanks Budihaha, these are GREAT sites! And, they both came up easily and quickly. Between the book suggestion and site from amosmc & ventman, and Budihahas suggested sites, I believe I should be able to make a passable partner for a ventriloquist act. Although, you can never have to many good ideas on a subject, so if anyone else comes across some good stuff, I'd sure appreciate knowing about it. Thanks Steve |
