Hi,
I have zero experience with rope magic, I bought some rope and a book many years ago and never really put my mind to it. Recently I ran across the rope in my magic box and decided I was going to dedicate some time to it. I purchased 3 Aldo Colombini DVD's (Rope Classics, Roped In and Rope Confection), I really like them. He has some nice stuff there, and it's easier for me to understand than reading it from a book. They were also a good value, I learned from the Café here Aldo has a buy one get one free deal going on. Thank you guys for the good suggestions, I'm very happy with my purchase! There is also a rope guy on here, I forgot his name... But I saw his video routine with the 3 lengths of rope and a story about "Life" from what I can remember. There was a little note about sending him some cash to use the routine - If anyone here knows who I'm talking about can you please give me the members screen name, I really like that story line and would like to use it - at least in part - at some point in the future when I get good at this rope stuff. Thanks, Ron |

Ron, just type "rope trick" into youtube.com and watch hours and hours of magic.
Here is a classic George Sands effect. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=4&0 Most of the rope effects will give you a clue as to what to choose. However, learn the basic cut and restored and branch off from there. There's a great video (if you are not into reading), Daryl on Ropes. Pretty much every type of rope trick out there.

Thanks for the advice magicians, are you the rope guy? This rope I have here is the old grey type magicians rope with a core. What do you have in stock that's good for me to use, looking for something kinda thick - I have big hands - I like the green rope, its my favorite color and seems like it would stand out better than white?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm pretty good with a TT, but I don't wear jackets. Are the skills needed close to a TT?

There are only a few methods using rope and a tip. You can use a vest instead of a jacket, sometimes loose long sleeves.

I think the video you are looking for is Tim Dowd's. I like his thinking on the chop cup, too.

There is nothing new about cut and restore. If you buy the "self working rope magic" by Karl Fulves. you will get 7 cut and restore tricks plus 63 other fine rope tricks for about $5. This is where a new be to rope magic should start. If you are serious about learning rope magic buy a book.

To fool a magician you need professor Ian's night mare.

I have been a big fan of yours since I joined here in 2004, you put life into those George Sands moves, and you should post here more often. BTW Your English is perfect.
