Anyone tried this yet?
I prefer to use the fingertip rest over the finger palm. And suggestions? Here’s my reasoning. Fingertip rest is easier and faster to get into, and the rhythm is smoother. Besides that, in the event that I am not doing it on the table, the finger palm makes it harder to drop the coin as opposed to the fingertip rest where I can easily classic palm it and drop it on the surface. I mean... try doing it the floor... and it may be clearer what I am trying to put across. Any comments? |

I say do whatever works for you. If it is easier for you to put it in fingertip rest then so be it.
Just check your angles and watch for windows.

Is the Dill displacement the move with the ES on the table and that weird shake? I can't remember. If it is the move I'm thinking of, I'm not a fan. I love Dean's work but I think it's a bit obvious.

I agree that its easier to use fingertip rest when using the displacement, however, I found it harder to go from fingertip rest into heel clip.
I’m practicing with a way to perform the displacement move with your hand already in heel clip position. It looks more natural to me because the Dill Displacement move never looked natural in my hands.

Twistedace, I think that's the move I am talking about. It does appear obvious to the trained eye. The first time I saw him do it, it totally went by me. Perhaps we forget how layman sees things?
Jgriff, I don't usually go straight from fingertip rest to heel clip, I use an intermediate classic palm. It may seem to be an extra step, but it appears totally logical to me, and it is almost effortless to classic palm from the fingertip rest position. The spectator shouldn't see a thing. And I believe it’s a much easier method to go to heel clip position from the classic palm, especially if you are doing it on the floor. Just my opinion though, I would like to see if anyone shares my experience. Let me know how you think the move can be made more natural … if you have any ideas. Thanks. |

The only reason I don't like it is because of how quick and jerky it appears. It looks like you did SOMETHING.

Hmm, well it didn't look suspicious to me when I first saw it… lol, perhaps I am a little on the slow side.
So do you have a move replacement for it, or do you give up on the effect altogether? |

There is a good explanation of this move on the DVD Extreme Dean Vol. 2. At first I was little unsure of the move, but now I like it. As you are going to move the coins the front hand shades the one doing the dirty work to hide any discrepancy. A magician would probably pick up on it, but not a layperson. I also think the move will go by unnoticed if you do not draw any extra attention to your hands. Do it in a casual way and it will blow right by them.

I agree, I always use finger tip rest, easier to get in and out of, and in the times where you need to get into classic palm, it's easier with finger tip rest, than with finger palm. so, I agree with you.

For those who don't care for the displacement move, any suggestions on other moves or handlings to put you in the same position as the displacement does?

I love that move. I send the coin into Classic Palm most of the time.

Is that the move where he scoots the coins forward and involves a "[".
He used the move in the routine where the coins are swirled under the glass and one disappears? Or is that something else?
