Ok, a couple of years ago I picked up an inexpensive combo set of Copper cups. I found the chop cup to be a bit unwieldy when trying to do even a simple cups and balls routine. Frustrated, I bagged the cups up and put them to the side while I condidered my options. Last week I had a thought. Since I saw no evidence to suggest otherwise,I presumed that the gimmick was simply glued into the chop cup. Long story short I gave a healthy blast of aerosol circuit chiller to the bottom of the cup. I picked up the cup and sharply smacked it back down on the table. Presto, when I picked up the cup, I found that I had dislodged the gimmick. A couple of quick swipes with an alcohol soaked piece of fine scotchbrite removed any residual adhesive. Now all three cups behave the same and I'm much happier. For those that may wish to try this, circuit chiller is available in electronics shops (even Radio Shack), alternatively, aerosol chewing gum remover may also be used (check with custodial supply dealers). In retrospect, I suppose I could have simply placed the cup in the freezer overnight with the same result but I happened to have the circuit chiller handy when the idea hit me.
Note: This technique will only work on certain types of adhesives but if you have a combo set that you aren't happy with, this may be worth a try. |
