I was surprised when doing a search on The Magic Café - there seems to be little discussion of shows at YMCA's other than suggestions of doing shows for little or no money. I have purchased material on marketing to libraries, daycare centers, and scouts, but am not aware of material for YMCA camps. While I relied heavily on Library Shows for my public shows this summer, I was thinking that the YMCA camps may work well to round out my bookings during the week next summer. Has anyone had success at booking shows that pay in line with Libraries?

I've done YMCAs because there have summer preschool type programs there.

Not only do YMCAs have summer preschool programs, many have after school programs year round.

Throughout my many years of performing, I did less than 10 shows at the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club. They are low in finance in my part of the woods.

Dynamike - thanks for sharing your experience. I briefly tried last year to market to YMCA's but was not successful at booking reasonably priced shows. I know I did not invest adequate time ad effort to properly evaluate this market, which is why I started this thread. I am hopeful that there are those who have found YMCA's to be a fruitful market and either share there experiences here or lead me to material for sale that reveals the opportunities in this market.

Charlie;

I would say you should redirect your best efforts elsewhere; on the most part the Boy’s & Girl’s club have never been flush with funds
