The Possession 2012
The true story behind The Possession is actually quite interesting and the entire idea behind the film is very intriguing. When you go to something like a garage sale and you buy an item, you never know the exact history of it and why someone is trying to get rid of it. Because of that, I decided to take a look into the truth behind The Possession and its dibbuk box. 2000 is when the story of this famous dibbuk box surfaced. It started with an odd listing on eBay for an old wine box that had a starting bid of $1.00. In the box there were locks of hair, a couple of pennies, a wine cup, a slab of granite that had been engraved, and a dried flower. 50 bids later, the wine box ended up selling for almost $300. The seller bought it from another seller, who was the first modern-day buyer of the box. Can 't wait to see this film and read the book lot's on line about dibbuk box and to get one made up and have the items in it could be a really good seance type routine.just thought I would share folks, all the best. |

Hey guys, I've been doing a show based on the Dybbuk box for a couple of years now, it's called The Thirteenth Box and is usually performed in a local cave. The film is loosely based on the events and history written about on the eBay listing that sold the Dybbuk box originally. The book has been written by the man Jason Haxton) who bought the box from said eBay listing.
A very inspiring story, and the history is even darker! My first 13th box show got picketed by some overly-religious types (bless 'em), which gave me some great press . I also had an audience member pass out just as we were about to meet the 13th box, and some weird photos taken by an onlooker that, if they haven't doctored them, are pretty strange (article and photos here http://www.dreadedmentalist.com/index.php?p=2_19) The original box's owner and book author messaged me when I started the show and warned me not to mock the box because bad things will happen! Really looking forward to the movie, should be great! Also love the idea of a Sefalaljia Dybbuk box! |
