It depends on the age. Mabye while youre setting up or backstage, and your music is playing, have the kids looking to keep them occupied.....mabye even have the music featured in each of the stories represented? Then at the start, ask who found them and have them come up and show which one they found with a laser-pointer, and give 'em a prize. (You don't have to do ALL of them though)

Majake yes I will be giving the colouring page to the librarian for activities for library to organize.
Joseph - yes, free advertising is worth it - good point.
The Mighty Fool - yes I was going to have and children who help pick out the book reference we used in the trick/effect.laser-pointer is also a great idea too - thank you.

Steven, Awesome back drop, bro. Here's the thing, though. If performing at a preshool or kindergarten, I wouldn't have it behind you, though, because for this particular age group, it will take away from you. Meaning, you could be doing something hysterical, and although they are looking straight ahead, they might be looking right through you, at something on your design. As far school age shows, listen to others advice on those. Your bud, Gz

Yes agreed GZ - The prep and preschool children will not be watching the show, they would not see me as they would be looking at the backdrop. I have a trial run for the show in December (that is the end of the school year here) I will make more decisions then.

TMF - ding, ding, ding - correct (lol)

Lol, Steven, I'm going to try man. I just might of spoken to soon, as I want to come to Austraila more than anything, but I have some insane projects coming up, that might be keeping me here. Don't bet the farm on it, but I'm going to try though.

Disney are VERY protective of their trademarked characters, be careful.

The Spiderman mask, the Batman symbol, the magic mirror, the green lantern, the hat the cat is wearing, and possibly even the tea cup, are going to get you into trouble if the copyright owners see them. All you need is one time on YouTube, facebook, or even in a local paper and lawyers could break your business. As MickNZ said, Disney has teams of lawyers and assistants whose job it is to scour the internet looking for such things. They'll send you one 'cease and desist' letter and act severely if you continue. It just ain't worth it.

I have a friend who was using Mickey, Donald, and Pluto in a routine. He was told to stop but he didn't. He got sued and lost everything, including his house.

I got busted by the American Library Association for using one of their images in my brochure a few years ago and am banned from attending any conferences. The material was only going to libraies and I'm even a memeber of the ALA. I was doing around 60 libraries each summer, now I only get a few local ones where they've known me personally for many years.

Like I said, it just ain't worth the trouble.

How are you having it printed? What system are you using to put it up?

I think it's a beautiful backdrop, although I agree it's very distracting. The colourful design could easily make your props tricky to see from some angles. I love the idea of having everyone search out all the books....but sadly, I concur with Bill Hilly.

I think your design includes way too many trademarked images. The one that leapt out at me was the Spiderman Mask. I'd suggest the most sensible thing to do would be to send your design to all the companies whose trademarked images appear, and ask their permission to allow you to use them. Your chances of getting permission are very low, but if you explain that it's for an educational show, and that you'd like to include the particular images because you want to encourage kids to read (say) the Spiderman books/mags, you just might manage it.

Sorry to be so negative, because I really like your idea, and your image. It is quite beautifully designed and thought out. But I suspect those trademark images will be a problem. Although it might be a pain in the butt right now, you'd be better to get on top of this rather important issue before you take it any further, in my opinion. You may be forced to re-design the image, using images which aren't trademarked.....if, for instance, you had a picture of a spider next to a man, it would still be "Spiderman".....this would not infringe copyright.
