I am doing a show at a library and it is my first close up show!
I usually do large stage shows involving metamorphosis and other large scale illusions.
Here is my routine-

In Order of Appearance:
Begin with Rope to Silk-
Proceed to Blendo Silks-
Explain that you love colors and introduce the flower-blooming flower routine!
torn and restored napkin with a volunteer (do as I do w/mouth coil)
Comedy Water Levitation-with slush powder
Bigger or Smaller( card trick)-look on youtube if you don't lnow what this is!

any suggestions?
also, any ideas on how to make these tricks apply to a reading theme?
thanks in advance!

The magic # is 793.8 ...bring out book on magic..

"Find" the ropes in the pages...
do rope routine..

The library is made up of different parts...

Non - Fiction ...(give example)

Fiction....give age appropriate example..

Computers, DVD's...(add other things depending on the number of your silks for your

Blendo

Talk about Junie B Jones in her book Aloha HA HA HA HA (extra ha's added)
and her problem with flowers.(read the book if you don't know what happened)
mixed in with your flower routine..

Whenever I do a water routine I first do the disapearing water trick..(take several drinks)...

then go into water...(I do a different water effect)...

and hopefully this will get you going on your own for the next effect...

Having a love of books really helps my library program...

The question to ask is why are doing any of these pieces and how do they connect to the message that you"re trying to give? What is your message and what are your learning objectives or outcomes?

My mission in Library programs...

To promote use of the library through sharing what is available on site and through I.L.L.

During my programs, I share my own, and others delightful experiences at libraries. Out comes include: being able to tell non-fiction from fiction, checking out of books related to my talk. An example ...a young lady coming up after a program and saying.."I don't know why, but I want to make a puppet!"

Close-up or Parlour?

Library shows, in my experience, are ususually kids under 8, geneeraly under 6.

Begin with Rope to Silk- Talk about books about travel, esp China.

Proceed to Blendo Silks-

Explain that you love colors and introduce the flower-blooming flower routine! - Books on Horticulture

torn and restored napkin with a volunteer (do as I do w/mouth coil) - Books on "how it's made"

Comedy Water Levitation-with slush powder - Books on Magic

Bigger or Smaller( card trick)-look on youtube if you don't lnow what this is! Not sure if a card trick will work well with this crowd . . .
