With imagination you can adapt your current tricks/routines to fit.

Understand your topic. What are the "road safety" rules that are taught to the children? How can you incorporate those rules into your existing routines? Just adding a bit of the safety rules to your patter goes towards making your show a themed show.

What will be your "talking points"? What information do you want the children to remember after the show? Choose 3 or less and build your show around them.

What are the children familiar with? What things do they see on the road that you could make use of or reference to? (things like stop lights, railroad tracks, painted lines, trees, animals ...)

Make up a magician's force or prediction routine where both you and the volunteer choose the word "safety".

Age range would make a difference.

I usually break shows for K-3 and 4-6.

Hi-Way sign/ Crazy Compass is a great and versatile prop, that might work here.
I love it because with a change of patter it can be used for many themed shows.

Also with a computer, printer and lamination, one can change the "pointers",colors and other features.

Because you're from the UK, look for a series of booklets by Trevor Lewis called "Party Pieces" ("Party Pieces", "More Party Pieces", "Still More Party Pieces", "Further Party Pieces", "Favourite Party Pieces", and "Final Party Pieces").

He also has a book called "Trevor Lewis Uncut" that has all 6 of the books in 1.

There are several road safety tricks in that series.

Also, there might be some tips here:
