I recently aquired a book called, "The Tricks of My Trade", The Magic Of Doug Conn. Actually< I became aware of Doug through magicvideodepot.com. A video demo of one of his tricks intrigued me so much, that I purchased it and upon receiving it, realized the tremendous thought process behind this trick. I was able to locate a copy of his book, although out of print, and was pleased to find between it's pages more of this outstanding thought process. Definitely not for the beginner, but some real "workers". A lot of fun stuff to learn.

This is the best book that nobody heard of that has come down the pike in years!
There was another, very heavily hyped book that came out at the same time that kind of stole Doug's thunder. The other book got a 5 on my rating of 1 to 10. I give Doug's book a 10! This is a really great book with lots of strong, clever, commercial, original material.

Never heard of the book, OR the author.
Could somebody please make a short review of it?

Out of ALL (hundreds) of books I own...this is one of my personal favorites. This book has my highest recommendation! It is filled with great commercial magic that will fool your spectators...badly!
Sometimes you can find a copy on E-bay. I hope this helps, Cody S. Fisher

Thanks all who have posted for the "heads up" on this book. I visited my local magic shop (Barry's Magic Shop) tonight and found the last copy in stock. After all the positive remarks, I'm looking forward to reading it.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the kind words (note: big kudos goes to Paul Cummins who put an enormous amount of time and energy in producing a great product.) When the book was released, it got 'good' reviews from Mike Close (Magic Mag) and Jamy Ian Swiss (Genii) but beyond that I didn't hear much 'hoopla.' So, it's nice to hear that you gents enjoyed the material. A 10 on the Guinn scale... wow! You've made my day Thanks again, Doug PS: I'm planning some to do a few lecture 'tours' in the upcoming year. If your local group (club, etc.) would like to host such an event, please contact me: connjure@hotmail.com |

However, the CD that is being released this week will have an Adobe Acrobat .pdf file from which the book may be printed in its entirety for those who prefer hard copy to screen copy. And - the pre-publication offer still stands; $5.00 off the retail price until further notice. There's a sample of what you'll see when you use the cd at http://www.fasdiu.com. Paul |

SubMagi,
Doug has a website at http://www.dougconn.com. You can see video of some of his material there. I've recently "met" Doug online and his Pip Trip is the coolest trick I've seen this year. Maybe several years... It's got me thinking... and there's no way to put a price on THAT! You'll also love his FlushBrush routine which I call "Poor Man's Roll Over Aces". It's a killer production of FOUR Royal Flushes in a very "artistic" way and you don't have to be Derek Dingle to do it. |

I was tempted to buy this for Flush Brush then I looked at the sample effect, Chameleon Sandwich, on Paul Cummins' site and I was sold. I'm anxious to get the CD in so I can check out the rest of it. Chameleon Sandwich is going into my repertoire and if I add nothing else, it'll still be worth the cost of the CD to support his/their work.
Thank you Doug and Paul for making it available. |

Hey Doug...I gotta say I've seen and heard a lot of good things about your CD book and yourself...I'm curious, are the majority of the tricks in this with cards? It would be nice if you could post a realy brief description on each trick...
